Default Spotted: Burgandy AU Turbo

...with an aufalcon.com sticker on the rear quarter, driving along Maroondah Highway in Croydon today around 10:30-11:30 can't really remember.

You have one hell of a sleeper on your hands buddy... I was wondering whether your gauges were there for a reason, which I found out pretty soon after you took off from the lights (in a sedate matter up to the speed limit).

I still felt at the end of it that for a boosted 4 litre it wasn't as fast as I thought it would be...?

Tell us about your ride!

(oh, and I was driving an EL Ghia 5.0 with GT's on it.)

It is a rather small turbo setup. Last time, he pulled around 180rwkw.

Its run a best of 14.1 or 14.2. Its a small setup running 178rwkw at 5psi at the last AFF dyno day he attended. Since then he got his exhaust done and it had a heap more top end.

He used to be on here all the time but I think he has got over modding his car. His bro has a 300rwkw + supercharged AU 3 XR8.

how much would a 'small' turbo setup like that cost? or is it about the same for installing a turbo regardless?

au-steve wasn't running an aftermarket ECU, it was off the standard EEC. He was planning on installing a Wolf3D, but havent heard anything since.

Probably around $3-5k.

He had a chip in it didnt he?

He spent close to $10K for a drive in drive out package.

The price varies heaps depending on what you want. Aftermarket ECU and injectors jack up the price a couple of G's.

Using genuine garrett GT turbos or older bush bearing turbos, intercooled, non intercooled, log style manifold or spaghetti type manifold, etc etc.

Nope no ECU. Which was why only 5psi. He was planning on getting a Wolf3D in there. I'm not sure whether he did it. I think he gave up & helped his brother with his XR8, and used the Wolf on that.

I'm fairly sure he didn't. I saw his car at the Dyno Day, and caught up with him another time.

It is the reason why he was only running low boost. And I'm positive he was looking at getting a Wolf3D. I never heard anything after that.

I think he was running some boost controllers or the like...

Then again, I could be wrong.

My bad, he is running a ChipTorque Chip. Hardly suitable for a turbo application anyhow.

chiptorque is capable for boosted cars, i'm also fairly sure when he pulled 180ish rwkw it was on more then 5psi.
i think it was closer to 8psi that day.
