I'm just wondering if anyone knows the rules about getting a LHD car registered in nsw, i though it needed to be older than 3o yr's to be reg as a LHD. I was browsing through carpoint and came across this o4 cobra which is clearly LHD from the photo's but has NSW rego plates on it, add also said it's lhd. Not to mention the stupid price tag.

I think you are right as in there was the 30 year rule , if the vehicle is over 30yo it can stay a LHD and anything younger has to be coverted , or is it on a special rego like limited usage ????

I believe the car has to have an inspection, put a sticker on the back of the rear that says Caution: Left Hand Drive and can only do a certain amount of k's per year.

According to the RTA, you have to really dig, the only way you can have a LHD car is if it is more then 30 years old. EXCEPT that it IS possible to register a late model LHD car in NSW but only under certain condtions. Canberra members would be familiar with all the LHD cars owned by staff from the US Embassy.

You guys are right about the 30 year rule and 30 years or older and you dont have to have a LHD sticker on the back, thats now an option. Pre 1972 and you dont need amber turn signals either. the only requirement is that the highbeams dip down to the left and not down to the right. I believe you can get new cars regerstered LHD under certain special regerstrations. but you have to comply with the rules or they can cancell the rego.
