Havnt seen it in years but a classic none the less!

I can still remember the XA coupe gs/gt (a bit hazy) that they destroyed in it! was yellow with a factory lid and tough as hell! Killed at the docks iirc!

Also got cameo's from Garry Rush and George Tatnell

the GT trashed in the movie had a borg warner diff , so my guess it was only a rusty falcon 500 anyway. the movie was crap the cars were cool, bag it or luv it but i grew in the times when gthos were parked at the pub all weekend and driven home by drunks.

The Monaro at the beginning when it crashes and rolls over the bonnet flys open to reveal a "red six", not a tough V8 as the exhaust note suggests.

Great old movie I reckon, think I still have the VHS version, have to go now to Big W and update to DVD.

Running on empty is a dreadful film but a bit of 80's nostalgic fun but

Yeah you could have a Running on Empty II. Something with Mike (Terry Serio) as the older mentor (another Max but not blind) who has repaired and restored the Fox 1 Challenger in the garage but never raced it because of the memories it brings back or Fox killing himself in it. Mix in some drug running/car stealing ricer burner driving "no-goodniks" and some young bloke who needs a quick car to race and you've got half a storyline.

Sadly enough I got to see both the original Black Chev and the Fox Challenger race at ECR once during the first Nostalgia meeting. Both cars ran like crap and barely ran in the 15's. It was the saddest thing I've ever seen. Item of interest, the Fox Challenger is an original 440-six pack car. Check Ebay to find out what an original 440-six pack 1970 challenger is worth these days. :o
