Default Rant!

Ever tried getting a Blue Slip in NSW! DON'T!

Took the ute up this morning to get it done, today being the only chance Ive had in the past 2 weeks to do it. Booked it in yesterday, dropped it off at 9 and was told it would be done by 11.

Its 11:30 now, ive just driven up there to find the ute still in the same spot I dropped it off, not even touched. I gave the moron my phone number to call me when it was done, how hard is it to pick up the phone and let me know they cant do it today?!:

AND, to top it off, the moron lost my previous vicroads roadworthy certificate! Told him Im bringing the ute back on Friday, I will sit there and watch him do it, and if he hasnt found the roadworthy by then I will personally tear his "office" apart.

So now I am the mercy of morons and the seller has to wait even longer to get his plates back - thats the part that annoys me the most, i dont wanna keep him waiting.

end rant.

Ahhh glad to see this sort of rubbish isn't just confined to victoria

If all else fails i'm sure you can get a duplicate copy of the roadworthy certificate

All the best Austin, don't be annoyed by one little set back, it'll all turn out good

Well at least all States have one thing in common....

Buying and selling a car can be so much fun (NOT) sometimes..

Hopefully Friday will have it all sorted for you ...

Good luck

The beauty of Victoria is that we don't have the yearly roadworthy bull****, Victoria have stuck to the factual statistics that less than 1% of fatal or near fatal crashes are attributed to the roadworthiness of vehicles.

Because I have been a driver trainer since 1987 and it just amongst the miriad of other information that I have obtained over the years. Can't give an exact source, but it was given to me by Police some years ago.

Im glad we dont have any of that sort of thing in SA, there is nothing like that at all.

The downside is that there are a lot of ****boxes around which shouldnt be on the road, really. I see some of them and wonder how they manage to stay together if they go over a speed hump!

Gday mate,

Blue Slips have only ever taken me about 10 mins around my place? I had to get one on my old pulsar from a defect. Soon as I brought the car in and asked for a blue, he jumped in with the brake test machine, went around the block, and checked the alignment, stopped outside the garage, checked all the lights with the other mechanic, cheked underneath for damange/cancer, checked windscreen water level.
Stopped the car, checked for bearing/hub slack.

Then printed the form and I was on my way. Do you have any garages that do it while you wait?

Blue slip is different to a Pink slip.

Pink slip is the yearly roadworthy test (Brake check, lights, etc..)

Blue slip is getting a vechicle registered for the first time, they go over the car with a fine tooth comb, but as this is a rego transfer (I'm guessing) it should be the same as a pink slip check up.

'Roadworthiness' must be further down the form that Mr Plod ticks, well below 'Speed' which I assume is at the top of the list :

Just got my Jackaroo Roadworthied up here in QLD the guy came to my work checked my Jackaro, and one of the other guys Toyota FJ45 ute and his missus charade. Took him twenty minutes to thoroughly check all three, didnt start any of them or check any lights or anything..... almost easier than registering some of my old cars in SA!!

No wonder Vic is so antiquianted the sooner they get annual rego checks the better....will help to keep all the s***boxes off the road.

In Vic they don't care that your car is so rusted out that it may split in half and cause grief to others....so long as they can do you for being 3k over the speed limit.

Wake up Trev you of all ppl should know that annual checks are good!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, I disagree with you on that one, as a former emergency service volunteer worker for 13 years who attended oodles of road accidents to pull people out of vehicles, I have seen no evidence to support what you are saying, what I have seen though is a bucket load of idiot drivers, but you can't roadworthy them.

You will find most vehicles are not inspected and when they are, only the tyres are looked at. There is an equally important RW item that is always overlooked!!

Brake lights.

Dont like it- stay in QLand. It is expensive enough running a car without all the hassle/expense of yearly RWC`s. There are plenty of statistics to back up what Trev has said.

Just to clarify...Qld does not have annual checks..the N.T and the A.C.T. do I don't know about the other states...the cost about $25.00...gee thats a big imposition on your annual rego cost!

Would you care to elucidate on your statement that backs up Trev.

Trev I spent 31yrs 5mths and 3weeks as a proffessional(sp)rescue firefighter what do you think I saw.

No you can't roadworthy drivers but if they haven't got a car to drive then less chance of them taking out some innocent victim. capiche!!!!!

Round 2 tomorrow. Called the guy today and told him to expect me on his door at 9am. If he hasnt found that piece of paper there will be trouble :.

Blue Slip is to transfer rego, its different to a pink slip. Bit Im annoyed about most is that I have to let somebody else drive the ute.

What annual check in the ACT??? If they brought it back in, someone forgot to tell the rego authorities. Haven't had that system for years.
