Id say your intake gasket has a leak or you have left a few bolts undone. Other than that it could be your injector(s) or as gunns said, a deadlifter/Sticking Valve.

i reckon its an injector thats stuffed. you say it didnt have a noise before think about what you have changed also i fail to see how a intake gasket can make a ticking noise...i could be wrong tho but if the gasket was loose it woud be running like a pig and you would hear a vacume sound no doubt.

my corona blew an exhaust gasket after having the head gasket done, and it sounds like a clockwork noise, varying with throttle input.

I have the same problem, no lack of performance or fuel consumption changes at all. its like a ticking noise like tappers, but not at idle, only when there is more that a very slight amount of throttle on, so it ticks pretty much all the time. havnt had mine checked out yet, but will do it soon. been like that for 4 months

the injectors do make a ticking noise and the ticking noise gets louder under load that could be what it is, if so thats normal for an MPFI

could be many things.. tappets.. injectors.. exhaust gasket.. no oil lol.. process of elimination. We used to have an EA Ghia that had this type of noise, it always had it, but was very mild and only while it was stone cold. as soon as you gave it a rev the noise would all but disappear. i think that was just a cold start oil distribution delay.
