Default Lookin for some good GT pics for my book

Hi there,

I work for a business called Ellery Publications and i am currently writing a book on How to Restore Your Falcon 1966-1979 and i have a chapter titled Performance/Limited Edition Models where i am covering information and specifications on the GT's, Superbird, John Goss Special and the Cobra.

I am chasing some nice pictures of these models to go into the book.

Pictures i am after should be no lower than 500kb cause the better quality the better the will look when the book goes to print.

I am chasing photos on the XA GT Phase IV, XA GT RPO83, XA Superbird, XB GT, XB John Goss Special and the XC Cobra.

I currently have a few photos on the XR, XT, XW, XY, XA Gt's but if there are anyone who has some good photos i may use them.

PM me if you are keen to get a picture you have in the book.

You could have a look in the Show and Shine area of the site, if you have access to it. There is a GT thread in there.

Ha!

Not that easy. To publish, he/she'd need "Owners Rights" to the image. Can't really go selling a book with photos you "found" on a website... which you clearly don't have permission for selling.

It would be better to have a photographer attend a Ford Forums event. Maybe have a small stand, sponsor the forums (at the VERY least) and formally take some photos (to keep them all standardised in format and stance) and get them to sign over the images as yours, or your companies. Ensure that you only state the "image taken on dd/mm/yyyy" as opposed to "any photos of this car". There would also have to be some sort of anonymity ensuring the cars aren't "hunted down" to would-be thieves.

I'm sure you'd find you would have a very long line. Offer each willing participant a large print (10x12 or something) for their time (and effort) and you'll be laughing.

There is a way to go about this that could make it very successful. Remeber that you could probably get all your photos in just one event outing. There's plenty of cars on this forum, and I'm pretty sure we've got one (possibly hundred) of every model you're looking for. All pretty close to perfect condition.

Good luck with your publication. More support will help add to the people joining the restoration crowd.

Sorry, I should have made myself clearer. Yes, my law degree did cover intellectual property issues, copyright, theft etc...

What I meant was, he could go and have a look in there, see a whole heap of GTs and pics and then perhaps PM the blokes who owned the ones he likes and make them an offer directly....

I did NOT mean to go in there and steal them! LOL

I think the topic heading is a bit of a giveaway....

I don't go getting pictures that i find on the internet and putting them in our books. I simply use the internet to find people who want to get a picture of there car in a book. I am only chasing photos cause some of these cars are so hard to come by and we take 99% of the photos for our books ourselves. In this book there is a bodywork chapter there is going to be a couple of cars out of the 'Project Cars' forum and the owners have sent me cd's of the pictures that i will use for rust repair. And apart from that all the pictures we have taken ourselves.

Number 1. It's against the law.
and
Number 2. Most of the pictures are to low in size.

We also make mention of people in the book who let us use alot of there photos.

Sorry if my comments were a little "targeted". I think the work you're doing is great! I just didn't want anyone on the forum being short changed. I guess it's just me trying to do the right thing by the forums and its members.

I'm sure the admins wouldn't mind a quick "thanks fordforums.com.au" either. But thats for them and you to discuss. I'm but a mere pawn.

Have a great weekend!

No offence taken mate. Also this book will cover fairlanes, just the heading makes it sound only like it's for falcons so might have to change it to "How to Restore Your Falcon/Fairlane 1966 - 1979"
The rust repair chapters are on a XY Fairlane and a XA Coupe so it should cover just about every model as they are similar.

xrchic,

just thoguht i'd ask, as there very rarely seems to be anything even relating to fairlanes. Even though they arn't extremley different (ie wheelbase and body panels mainly, and some minor differences in the interior)

Yeah its cool mate and I apologise as I was wrong. He does want Fairlanes too, and yes, I agree with you, there rarely seems to be anything around related to Fairlanes as well!

Cheers

Thanks for mentioning my site Pete.

I'd be happy to contribute whatever you need from my site for your book. Currently there are over 1300 pics on the site of all things GT with sprinklings of Cobra, John goss and other limited edition cars. I will PM you with direct links to some of the better pics but just look through it and if there is anything there you like just let me know.

Oh, and I take the majority of the pics on the site so no worries with copyrights etc etc.

Do you want any pics of an XC GXL? I know it's not a GT but pretty damn close.
I also have good pictures of a ZF Fairlane I used to own if you want them.
