So your working for Colin up there MrFlibbles? I also used to work at Pedders, which is obviously the reason why I use pedders. For the information of the haters here, I have seen the construction of the shocks inside the casing that is the only thing that most people will ever see. I've seen with my own eyes what the difference is, how many of you can also say that in honesty?

BI6TIM, yes its the shop Colin Used to run, but its been bought by another guy. I have used the pedders stuff since before i worked for them, and in my opinoin its good stuff. For those that dont like Pedders gear well thats fine! Life would be pretty boring if we all liked the same stuff....

I got ripped on that one. The car still rice-bounced a fair bit, so I bought some koni reds a few months later, and put them in on about the 1/3 from full soft setting. Much much better, and probably 70% of the people on the forum would have been happy with the ride/handling balance. Since then, I have stiffened them up three more times. Once more on the superlows to see what would happen, again when I put K-mac/pedders front/rear on my car, and then again a few weeks back - now they are set to full hard, and the ride/handling balance is waaaaaaaaaay over to the 'handling' side of the scale, at the expence of quite a bit of 'ride' but thats the way I like it I wonder, of all the people in this thread that say "these shocks do the job" or "these work well" or "never had a problem" - how many have driven the same or similar cars with different setups? How many can directly compare the differences in valving in different shocks and make an educated decision on which is the most suitable? Everything is relative - if you hop into a stock EB after driving an XD you would be very impressed and happy with the handling, but if you hopped into the same EB after a drive in a BA you would think it was cr@p...so some people might think "yeah, my car feels great with suplerlows/monro (for example, not trying to point the finger at anyone) but have they tried a set of konis or pedders to compare? *NB: I have had my Konis for about 4 years now, I think they have done nearly 100,000km, including many stints at QLD raceway, Morgan park raceway, Archerfield international speedway, Willowbank, a trip to Cairns and back etc. No leaks, bushes etc all still in perfect condition and the adjustment still works. If I remove the rear shocks (which as I said are set to full hard) compress them, put a screwdriver through the eyelet in the bottom, stand on it pull the top to try and extend the shock, it takes a good minute or more to pull it to full extension...not likely to require a rebuild any time soon... |
