hi,
looked everywhere for specs and no luck... i am looking at buying a 1979 GL escort 1.6L (which is a 4 door) for entry level rallys and car club khanacross events. is the length/wheelbase of the GL(4door) the same as the L (2door) or RS models? is it too heavy for this sort of motorsport? any essential mods necessary so that it doesn't give me terrible trouble on its debut? if yuou don't think this is a suitable car... what other cars could you recommend without spending over 2k? Thanks everyone... sorry for the long post |

The overall length and track are the same btwn the 2 and 4dr versions. The RS is slightly longer and the 2dr is slightly lighter, (53kg).....The van is 17kg lighter again.

personally, i would try for a 2 litre Escort. Four doors are usually cheaper to buy than 2 door cars. These cars handle like nothing else on dirt so you would be doing very well to learn in one. Good luck.
