What mods have you already done to the car and what are your goals with it?
If its a stocker or close to it I would uncorking the intake and exhaust first. Depending on budget go for headers and cat back. Also look for either an AU/Explorer manifold and if you can stretch for it some new heads. Some shorter rear gears and a higher stall converter would help. All of those things, as well as a larger MAF and throttle body I would consider before a cam change. |

I agree with anakha.
cam means basicly dissasembling half the motor and is not a quick/easy job. do the bolt ons first then do heads and cam at the same time. depending on what cam you choose you could get the heads/springs/rockers done to suit. |

Unless you change the heads now, i wouldnt recommend changing the cat, it'll outflow the E7's easily

Head port etc but if your serious you would be better off with better heads. Either GT40'Ps (Ford) or aftermarket(Edelbrock,AFR,Trickflow etc)..
Good deals going around with the ford heads and explorer manifolds which would be your best bet if wanting "Factory Ford"....

I sold the worked T3 GT40P heads off my car to offyaguts and he ran that in an auto EF/L(?) Fairmont with the trickflow TFS1 cam and it ran about 98mph over the 1/4 with no stally or good tyres........
The GT40P's (best of the iron heads anyway) run around $800-$1300 depending on valve gear etc and will be the single greatest gain I would say- the explorer manifold should be done same time to maximise the gain from the heads and you might as well do the cam same time........ As others have said it will end up being a big job. Hell, modding a V8 in ANY way, turns out to be a big job..... can we get a show of hands from those who spent three times what they thought they were going to? :

With the exhaust.......I found a twin 2 1/4 inch into a 3 inch system works awesome....
Has a nice note and is not really too loud, and has given me better fuel economy! true! I had a 2.5 inch exhaust on my stock 5.0 and it sounded terrible.....no...make that worse then terible!

Good street cams would be
Crane powermax 2030 (or 2031 with 1.7:1 rollers) TFS 1 BarryV put a 2030 into his DC LTD with Edelbrock manafold, 65mm TB, ProM MAF and home ported E7TE's. The cam made the biggest diffrence our of all the mods by far. Very torquie.
