Definitely go the XA. Factory 351, nine inch diff, ooh yeah! I do love XBs but not as many XAs about, and certainly not many XA ex-chasers.

Personally I've never been a huge fan of the XA-XC shape. So if it were me deciding on a project car I would go the EF. Quote:

I choose the XA. I love XBs and have one myself (that needs a lot of restoration..haha) but i've really developed a soft-spot for XA sedans. They are such a time-peice and unfortunately ford was a little more conservative with the XB as a result... and its often argued that the GT look XA is far tougher than XBs.
For a project, i'd go the XA. Hell, i'd go a ZG...so don't listen to me anyway :P

[QUOTE=Kenaz]I was just joking around mate.
Personally I've never been a huge fan of the XA-XC shape. So if it were me deciding on a project car I would go the EF. no worries mate, so was I. That is the good thing about getting everyone point of view, sometime your eyes are openned to the harsh realty, or you get everyone agreeing with you, and you get the response you hope for. Cheers mate and thanks for the feedback. Envi |

I voted XA. See less of them on the road these days, and it would be good to see another one saved.
Wasn't there some emission changes (ADRS???) during the XB model run?? |

Just a quick question, did the XA cop cars come with traction bars on the diff and close increment speedometer? The XB chasers did. Check out http://www.lastinterceptor.com/sale/07/

I voted XA, the main reason is rarity, i love both XA and XB, i wouldn't bother doing up an E series, engines were nothing outstanding and they are common as muck.

The XA or XB. Whichever takes your fancy and whichever one you think you can tackle without too much hassle. From what you've written you sound like you've already talked yourself into the XB?
Only look at the XB if it doesn't have ADR 27A. ADR 27A came in midway through 1975. It pretty much screws you with the EPA. Easiest way to tell is look where the washer bottle is mounted. If it's up the front near the battery its a ADR 27A car. The washer bottle was moved from the back righthand corner to behind the battery so they could fit the canister (cough pollution gear) in.

I sort of had the same problem. I didn't want to risk destroying my BA XR8 ute so have dragged my EF out of storage and am in the process of bunging a turbo on.
Its a bit hard for me to vote. I couldn't decide what to sell so have kept my XB GT, 69 XT Ute, and EF. I'm lucky enough to have parents who let me store my cars at there property. So I just cruise out there and swap project cars every now and again when I get bored. |

Personally, the XB. The XA's front grille and rear lights never appealed to me in the slightest.
The XB's front and rear are far nicer IMO. Aqua is a shocking colour on cars too. The green is a little bit baby-poo-ish, but cleaned up, it will look like a real 70s piece of machinery. Yes, I stand by my comments. The XB. |

I love the XA Nose shape and the tail lights etc. They're just angular and mean, the XB is a bit more rounder and subtler though are still horn. I'm swayed by our first Falcon being an XA Futura however.
I personally would go the XA and stuff ay XB goodies you can into it (except use an XA GS/GT bonnet). That way you have a use for your spares in a nice looking car and you can always trade off the spare's you cant use yourself. The EF, well, they have the mod cons and all that but you get killed with all the electrical mumbo jumbo, kind of makes it hard to rebuild under your own steam. If you're doing a ground up on either of the old cars, is there a real reason you can't add aircon, power steer and all that while you're at it? Cheers, Lumpy
