not sure if i agree on this whole diff thing.
My el fairmont ghia has all the tickford stuff ie bodykit, wheels and motor but im stuck with a single spinner. I have read up that the lsd was an option, not standard fitment.

I have the normal Fairmont...

Just wondering what gives the Tickford the extra 5+kW.

Cheers

Will changing to a GT or T Style snorkle +KN Give any extra Power or is just a a waist of time

Pretty sure it's just a different cam and ECU map to suit. I'm not sure if Ghias got a different exhaust as well. 5kW isn't much, you would gain much more than that with a decent set of headers and exhaust.

It will gain you a hand full of kW on the dyno, but you won't notice a difference behind the wheel.

I read somewhere it was just extra exhaust baffling in the ghia exhaust, with no other difference engine wise ? can't recall where i read that, whether it was in the manual or somewhere else. Something to do with the fact the 'rich' crowd who bought new Ghia's in that era wanted power, but not as much noise as the xr... Could be wrong.

If you just have the Fairmont you will not have the Tickford Head on your motor, the Tickford Head had larger diameter Exhaust Valves and a different Cam Profile.

That's pretty much the difference.

to find out if you have a tickford head pull off you power steering cover(belt cover) and if it is tickford there is a t on the front of the head and the differance is ti has smaller exhaust ports as doing that gives more torque and power it has a standard cam and valves the only differance is the porting hope this is usefull
