A bit of enthusiastic driving yesterday around a big bend. Turned the steering car turned then just slid off the track. Anyway, mounted a small curb. No damage. Just my driver side alloys got badly scratched. Its not serious either but it still bothers me so I'm gonna get it replaced. Anyone know how much for Zetec 17inch (LS) rim at Ford parts?

Nope but if ur understeering a bit add some tire pressure.....Also try 2psi more in the front than the back cause the focus has more weight in the nose....
Bad luck on the rim though...i had the same problem in my parents car after the rear tire had a blowout.... hit the curb and took a chunk outta the rim and the plastic spoiler :MrT_anim:

Forrest Bear where do you live? You can always get your alloy wheel repaired like I did when I bought 4 badly scratched 17" rims and got them repaired and they look like new.

I live in Melbourne. Yeah. Had a really good look at it today. Its not so bad but its nice and long, along the edge. I heard something about "burnishing" the metal to fix it.
Sure, I wouldn't mind any info about getting it repaired. I took it on the freeway and drive it to 130km. The steering didn't shake or vibrate. Everything seems fine thank goodness. I was really worried cos there was a mighty BANG when it hit the curb on the front driver side. I think the suspension must've bottomed out. I think I will stop thinking I am Tiff Niddel or Jeremy Clarkson and drive more sanely.

Yeah NCT5s wreak havoc again.
Also the light "dulled" steering of the LS Focus doesn't help. A rim should only be $250 from Ford spares ($1000 for a set of 4 as a dealer accessory) The first thing you should do though is to change the tyres to something decent. |

I have zetec focus alloys on my fiesta... they came with NCT5's... *vomits*
the car felt like a big sponge cake aka falcon/commodore. If you dont mind goodyears buy some eagle F-1's. They are supposed to be an unreal tyre, but they are very noisey. Other than that i can seriously say BF goodrich G-force sports are excellent tyres!!!

Got call from Advance Alloy Repairs. They said only way to repair was to machine away which I am not keen on. I thought they would drop some molten alloy onto the affected area and machine the area to flush with rest of wheel. Not keen on having an unbalanced wheel. I'm gonna buy a spair rim from Ford parts.

They machine it away and then rebalance the rim
