Talking Work Started on new Rear Entertainment

Hi Guys,

Work has started on the new rear entertainment unit being built for my Super Pursuit. The work is being carried out by Mark from Blackneedle Upholstery who did the work on my GT. The new unit will be built around a 69cm LCD Television screen which I picked up today. There will be an amp and 4 Apline Speakers with the lighting consisting of a Green Laser Sound activated light and LED lighting from the States. Will be using some very snazzy suede finishes in the making of the unit - trying to come up with something different from the norm. The work will be completed in time for MotorEx.

Ciao - James

Hi Adam, I had better get another DVD before people start throwing rocks at me, especially the car owner next to me. Had a look the other day for some other music DVDs but did not much about the artist. Trouble is I'm not sure what music to get as I'm not into a lot of modern music. I have other selections but they would not be suitable for the younger crowd - any suggestions would be most greatful.

Ciao - James

Not only is Queen great to listen to, they are visually up there with the best. I even like some ABBA music, so I might just go and pick out some that I like.

So long as its not annoyingly loud, I can't see any reason not to play what you want. After all, you're showing off the car and system, not the music.

Roger Waters: In The Flesh live isn't a bad DVD. I can lend you mine for the show if you don't want to buy it. Or a bit of AC/DC may get you some attention James. But Queen rocks mate.
I tell you what Stretch likes Nickleback a lot he may have some of their DVD's :

If only, there would be a few people hanging around and James would need a stick to prod us away.

Who!!!!! I thought S&M was some type of sex - you will have to bring along some to the Wagga AFD and I will see what it sounds like - music that is, not the sex part.

Thanks for the offer of assistance - have got a lot of gear to choose from to put in the car, don't want to overdo it, the main point is to make it part of the overall car design, to flow in with the rest of the car. As I will be doing the cabin of the car at a later date, we have to ensure it all blends otherwise it will look a like mish and mash.

The final decision on the interior colours will be made next week. We are currently looking at suede, probably a Ferrari Red and a Coral. The Ferrari Red is not as bright as a Ferrari car but a few shades lighter. The third colour will chosen for durability and the main area that will receive the most traffic or use. More than likely a quality vinyl but have not as yet decided on the colour. Once we agree on the design then we will make the final choice of colours and come to some form of balance with the amount of colour in any given area. Whatever the choice, it will be of a high quality in workmanship and once the job is completed it has to please me, and then everyone else can have their own opinion.

That was the original plan, but with so many sponsors wanting to come onboard with the car, it was difficult to turn it down. A lot of business's received good mileage and work from my GT and the offers started to come in on the Super Pursuit. Once House of Kolor came onboard with the paint job, it has just snowballed from there. The rear entertainment area was already receiving a lot of attention but Blackneedle wanted to showcase their workmanship so once again it was too good an opportunity to miss out on. To be honest, I could not afford to do it if I had to foot all of the costs. It is not all free work being done, I have to outlay some money. I have heard the comment second hand, why does my car get chosen - it is simple really, I make a committment to showcase the car so that others may view the work that has been done on it, I attend a lot of car shows and this is what my sponsors like, they get a chance for their product to be seen to a wide audience of car lovers. Nothing like seeing it in the flesh. I have had offers to do things with this car as I did with the GT and I have turned them down as I did not think it was beneficial to the cars appearance.

Had a meeting last night and we have come up with the design of the rear unit. Worked until midnight last night and it looks as though we will be working everynight and over next weekend to get the job done. It is going to take some clever work to build an inner shell inside the canopy and make it blend in as one. Might leave out the laser beam light unless we can make it look it is part of the theme, not just an add on. The one thing I can promise you is that it will certainly be a one off work of art, not just a vehicle with audio equipment.

See you at MotorEx

Image of the finished entertainment unit. Only have to add some more lighting on the floor. Did not have time to get in done for MotorEx. As it was, I only arrived with 15 minutes to spare to get my car in.

Hi Stretch, thanks for the comps - very happy with the results - I don't think anyone could have envisaged the final product. Not a simple job and certainly different from the norm. Have a few more things to do and hope I can get it done over the next week. Mark from Black Needle is snowed under at the moment and looks as though we will be only able to do it late at night or late next week. The car got some great accolades at MotorEx last weekend and Jon Kosmoski, the founder of House of Kolor was very complementary on the two tone paint job. Catch up with you at AFD or if it is a fine day on Saturday 15th of this month come over for a drive to the Berkshire Park Ute Show - should be a good turnout of utes on display.

Ciao - James
