Last night at Calder, a white turbo tezza with 22s ran 15.1, then a 14.9. Not bad for a tank..

Well ... stock wheel size is actually 18" to fit over the standard brakes.

It was too quiet... couldnt hear anything. Wheels looked bodgy too, rice almost. The tezza itself actually looked horn however.
There were a couple of EF/EL's running respectable times too. |

yeah saw the van. i just found that the new car mats i put in yesterday was making it so i couldnt get W.O.T. was losing 3-4 cm on the throttle, and the "kickdown click"(last little bit of throttle that has a click) was totally not there, so im thinking of taking it down again in the next few weeks.

Is that plumber van still around ... with the V8 in the back of it.
If it's the same one I am thinking of it used to do wheelstands ... LOL

That Territory with the 22's i think was the horsepower factory car. Supposed to be running 218awkw (up from 180awkw) with just a tune. I'm guessing it was running with a standard tune.

It had 'HPF' plates, so it's a good bet you're correct.

Sorry for the (probably) dumb question but I don't understand why wheel size impacts 1/4 mile time? |

Yes weight. Metal is heavier than rubber, plus when you're talking about more weight on a wheel, its equivalent to something like three or four times the weight anywhere else on the car.
So if the 22in wheels weight 10kg more each, it could be equal to a 120-160kg passenger. (2 or 3 tenth in the 1/4 atleast)

BadMac
Further to one of the previous posts heavy wheels/tyres are worse for acceleration not just due to their mass but also due to the engine having to overcome the increased moment of inertia (rotational inertia). |

i believe the white territory ran a best time of 14.1@98mph. This time was with a flash tune, it ran a 14.9 bog stock without the tune. Well done fellas!!

hmm.. i saw that terry run also, and i really wasnt impressed.. i was expecting very low 14's at least... Hasnt the Nizpro terry run a low 11?
I say, stock wheels, and an overhaul on exhaust tune etc would see that thing pushing some good times! It was just a bit of a bummer, i told my mate next to me.. ."watch this, this thing is gonna smoke this statesman." But unfrotunatly, it wasnt the case. :hihi: |
