Nah mate, I was talking about Glen's engine! Mine's running fine
Update: I am 25 pages into the BA conversion report, however I have hit many snags along the way in making it (such as readjusting the shifter cable bracket many times & STILL not getting it right) so I will withhold from uploading the report until everything is 100%. Also I haven't touched the cosmetic side of things (housing is still "naked"). I will bump this thread again when the report is finished, but I think I will just make do with no Park gear :( Dellboy managed to get Park though somehow! -Dave- |

Bwahaha thanks mate ;)
Yeah the HU is staying, until I score my friend's standard HU out of her EB Fairmont when she buys a CD player. My FM radio doesn't work :( All I need is FM and then I'm set Next comes an Ipod & I set the FM to that frequency & away I go... No more needing to f**k around with CDs in the car, and I'm too tight to get a stacker, non-factory speakers, amp, etc etc. Oh, a mate of mine told me how to fix the "only the passenger side speakers work" problem: there's a play direction button to the left of the tape player, and you just tap it gently and volia!, sound from all four speakers again!!! Waaaaay o/t but post+1 for me I forgot to mention in my SMS mate, my hotmail addy is xe200@hotmail.com ;) -Dave- |

So you are still sticking with a tape player. I still have mine... the only difference is it is sitting in a box in the cupboard, having made way to my CD/MP3 player!!! When I still had the factory tape player in the car, it blew a globe or something in the screen so it would no longer light up when the headlights were on. It was great fun trying to find the right radio station at night! So I decided the time is right to upgrade

Yes I must see yours sometime Jase! I'm sorry I've been off the radar lately, uni is really killing me, and although I had some of yesterday off I kinda spent my time fitting Superlows on the EB, backyard stylez :togo:
I'll get back to u mate with when I might be available, I have a heap of assignments due (one which I should be doing at the moment), plus unwanted overtime at work, plus a wedding in SA that I'm driving up to in a fortnight's time, and then exams for the first fortnight of June, so maybe we could catch up mid june sometime? lol I changed the cable angle on the bracket and managed to get 3-D-N-R, so I thought that simply moving the point horizontally an inch closer to the gearbox linkage arm would turn those into D-N-R-P, however I've found that all the gears move like 2cm from gear to gear, but R to P is like 3cm for some reason! Hence why I can't manage P... I've got one more idea up my sleeve, however it's a longshot and I won't have time to attempt it until after work on Sunday (speaking of Sunday, I'm spewing that I'll be missing the E-series meet!). It involves where the cable end connects to that arm. If I have it say 1cm below where it currently is, the arm will swing around more, thus engaging park (as it's like *just* missing it at the moment). I'll get there in the end!!! Current bracket is a mix of metal, zip ties, hose clamps and heatproof bandage. Sits nice & comfy between the cat & tranny! : Dezza, if your FM works I might have to purchase your old HU and pull it apart to replace the globe... As long as you have the security PIN to get it to work that is! :p Or if my friend ever gets around to replacing the stereo (like she said she would a year ago!), I'll just grab hers -Dave- |

Yeah, it worked well. I just didn't know how to get to the globe, and personally I didn't think it was worth it. I still have the PIN somewhere. I just have to find it. If you want to buy it, just let me know. Initially I was going to keep it for if I was going to sell the car, but with my lack of money, I think I will be driving the EA for many years yet, and by that stage the current sound system will probably be outdated as well!
Your friend sounds similar to me. I was saying I was going to replace mine for about a year! I've still got the factory rear speakers tucked away in a box as well

AFAIK the shift kit is still not running, it sends it into limp home mode when active. He does not have park yet either.

Yep, what J4M35 said, no luck :(
Shift kit = attempted two weekends ago, but the car kept on going into limp home mode. I make up the circuit according to the diagram offered on mechanicalforums.com, and the shift kit and BA tiptronic are independent of each other on the loom so they shouldn't cause any trouble for each other, but the f**king thing wouldn't work for me! Park = not even attempted. I'm flat out with uni at the moment (I've got a test in 30 mins actually). I'm sorry to have gone cold on this, I know there are a lot of people who would like to see the end result (including myself). I doubt I'll have the shift kit + park done by June 12 (E-series cruise)... It's in the exam period :( I hate this time of the year!!! -Dave- PS PULLY6, thanks for your advice on IRC! I'll have another attempt at it sometime but I'll need to make new lengths of wire for the loom, I'm running out of wire on pins 7 & 29! (Fit up, not work, cut, fit up, not work, cut... shorter, shorter, shorter!) |

Anyway, Dave's got the sequential sport shift working (like the BAs), although I don't think he's still got Park working. The console's looking good too. Dave can fill you in with all the rest of the details
