i reckon toyota have stuffed up AGAIN. Now that the current US Avalon is a looker they should've brought it over instead of modding our own Camry to make the Aurion. The Aurion is now a non-descript obvious Camry derivative that hasn't got the presence of the American Avalon.

When the Avalon looked like a hunk of crap, they brought it over, now that it looks good they leave it there. Bloody never learn....

When are we going to get the RWD Crown from Japan!!!! It's a conservative looking car but at least it gets the 200kW engine driving the rear wheels. People loved the Cressida even though it looked bland and was expensive compared to the Falcodores of the time but at least it was decade ahead in tech.

There is certainly a lot of hype going on about the Aurion but is it manufactured hype generated by bombardment advertising or is it coming from the people. (is there a toyota forum where people talk about this stuff?)

If people actually can't wait to drive the new Aurion then kudos to toyota for turning out an interesting car because until now nearly everybody who buys a toyota does so because of their supposed reliability and not because they are an interesting or aspirational car. (4x4s are excluded from this statement)

On a totally different note, 200kw seems a lot to be putting through the front wheels, just out of interest has there ever been a more powerful front wheel drive car (in factory form) because I can not think of one off the top of my head.

Just wait till the supercharged TRD version of the Aurion comes out early 2007, i dont think 250kw will be unreasonable there > all from a 3.5 V6, makes HSV and FPV look like they are still using engines from the dark ages (hang on, they are??)
Just wait until folks in this forum and the holden forum start bolting on superchargers and turbochargers, especially on their V8's. Makes anything toyota *cough westinghouse* make look punny.

this time around we are lucky enough to be in line with the rest of the world and what they get as their camry.

So the Aussie and American versions are pretty much the same.

yes, LOL

anyways, the thing that has always put me off toyotas (camry's etc) is they make the body panels so large (especially towards the rear) it makes the wheel arches look small and the wheels even smaller...it looks so awkward, can't the designers see this???

Would u like to tell me why it isn't just a nose job?

Take 1 camry, give it rhinoplasty, add a V6 and u have an Aurion.

Simple!!!

The corollas the biggest bucket of **** on the market at the moment, the only reason they are selling is because they are 19747 on the road drive away.

The mitsubitshi colt cost less so does the ford fiesta and the mazda 2. So why does the corolla continue to do so well?

Say what? They are one of the pricier small cars so low purchase price isn't it - More the fact that they have excellent resale value, and a reputation for reliabilty. I hired one up in Queensland recently and was really impressed - decent power (relativley speaking), good fuel consumption, non-offensive styling (most other small cars on the market look like mini-vans), and swallowed all our luggage. I'd buy one if I needed a run-about.

His statement has credence - corolla is a focus, mazda 3, lancer competitor, not a fiesta, mazda 2 colt competitor. It is medium-small, not small.

i'm talking about size.

Corolla goes up against Viva/Elantra/Cerato/Tiida size cars.

Colt/Fiesta/2/Jazz are in a different class
