Default Help with au2 forte please!!

Last night i was driving and my left headlight went out and so did the instrument panel lights for about 5 seconds then came back on and the whole time engine kept running then the battery light came on and stayed on. I got back in it this morning and it started fine but the battery light came back on and the windows where moving really slow and everytime i went around a corner or hit a bump the radio cut out then came back on, so when i got home i checked the battery connections and they where fine... i checked the battery water level and it was fine too.. so i tried to start the car again and it wouldnt start all i got was about 5 clicking sounds from the engine bay ( kinda sounded like the starter motor engaging but not turning the motor ).. what i wrong ?? any help would be great thanks... oh and i took the globe out that burnt out but havent replaced it yet... does that have anything to do with it ?.

the clicking noise is due to your battery not being charged enough to crank the engine over... Because your alternator is not charging, the battery continues to loose voltage and the elctrics start to fade, just like your described...

Depends on what you get done.

Replace or rebuild the Alt. Personally I would replace it with a New Bosch, probably aroud $400 plus.

you are not going to like this but you seriously need to check the alternator is not covered in oil.. It is well worth fixing the power steering pump and/or high pressure lines because they leak straight into the alternator.. 90% of the times your alternator fails is because it fills up with oil :(

Mate, I just checked on eBay where you can get a genuine ford alternator for $240 plus $25 postage.
