It's unbelievable how small the original brakes are....
The replacement standard BA ones I got are so so much bigger. After a bit of driving I can tell the difference already.

I don't think so.
It definately doesn't feel like it's gone backwards. I'll try and measure the difference in the bar sizes tonight and see how much different it is.

ok guys i tried to read as much as i could but didnt find enough to make me happy on my decision, my dad just bought a set of PBR brakes for his ba xr6 turbo now after reading this thread a) will his fit my AUIII xr8 and b) are they worth it over the the standard xr8 ones?

I went to find an EB swaybar today to do the conversion, however it looked completely different and seemed a lot thinner than the AU one... it looked like it went in front of the motor section instead of behind like the AU's... is this right?

The closest thing you can get to the FPV GT-P Brembo setup is the PBR C6 calliper and rotors (BA premium upgrade) for the front and territory rear callipers and rotors for the rear.
This is a great setup and the braking performance wouldn't be much different from the Brembos. The only place the Brembos may be better is repeated hard brake applications on a race track. For the road use, Brembos are not worth the money. Pose value maybe if you are into that! And by the way, you need 17" rims minimum. |

Just did mine - BA calipers and discs, new pads, with the EB swaybar - she stops much better now!

That swaybar doesn't like to sit flush with the bushes - if i put the hole any further out for the stabiliser pin, the bottom bushes wouldn't of sat properly - as the control arm mouldings come in and don't leave enough space for the bushes to sit against the surface... hopefully should be ok!

so you just drilled a hole where it looked good for the swaybar mount??
you could always carve the bush a bit to make it sit flatter??

Well I was told to just widen the hole already in the control arm for the clip for the ABS wire... i guess I could carve the lower bushes a bit and drill another hole a bit further out.

The ones that have put Territory/BF XR6T brakes on an AU/BA.. Can you tell me what exact calipers you got. If anyone has pic's of the mountings that would be great too!
Reason being is that we have a set of Territory Front and Rear brakes here including discs and the Caliper mounts at the front don't seem to line up on an AU2.. (To line up the mount needs to be about 10mm longer).. and the bleed screw is pretty close to the upright.. I suspect that Territory calipers do not fit on AU/BA, but you need BF XR calipers instead.. Rear's fit nicely on Live Axle AU and front discs fit fine just the territory calipers at the front dont.. |

Territory and BF XR8 calipers are the same. If you look at a disc pad catalog, they are the same part number. The only thing different about Terry/BF front calipers, is the bracket is changed to allow the use of the larger rotor.

Hrmmm this is interesting then..
They are supposed to be for a Territory, they were ordered new from PBR, the Part Number on the bag and the box (B862-337PL) matches up with the online PBR catalog for being for an SX Territory.. anyhow here is a pic of the RHF caliper.. Does the mounting look the same as the ones you fitted. |
