The Hidden (1987)

Opens with a 7-minute bank robbery car chase involving an alien in a human host driving a Ferrari 308 or 328 being chased by cop cars.

The Rover (2014)

A recent Aussie film about a near future desolate Australia where a drifter gets his car stolen by a gang and goes to find it back any way he can. Quite a grim film but Guy Pearce was good. The police force drives the super-wide US Army-type Humvees.

I think the movie with the killer Plymouth was called Christine which was written by Steven King

Same as other posters I rate Duel, Vanishing Point, Gone in 60 seconds, Bullet, Mad Max 1 and 2,Running on empty and American graffiti as some of my faves!

American Grafitti is a film showcasing car culture of the late 50s.........really cool cars and some now very famous people star in the film.I think it might have George Lucas (star wars etc) first film

There is a pretty good police chase in a b grade movie called'fear is the key' with Barry Newman. He drives a ford gran Torino through Louisiana.

In the Professionals Cowley drove the red Granada,Bodie and Doyle the Capri and Escort.

XE Falcons were used in Special Squad,a Fairmont Ghia,Fairmont and S-Pack if i remember correctly.

Smokey And The Bandit
Duel
Gone in 60 Seconds (original)
Bullit
Dukes Of Hazzard (2005)
Gone in 60 Seconds (remake)

plenty of other great car movies too like the cannonball run, vanishing point, american graffiti, two lane blacktop just to name a few of my favourites

Thanks!! Fear is the Key was a fantastic film, if one is into the older stuff. The Gran Torino goes through hell in the long chase sequences.

The film takes a twist half way through and the ending was quite dramatic.

Not a chase movie ,but definitely a great car flick-"HOT ROD". Made about 79, lots of drag racing, bit of street racing , and general car shenanigans.
Star of the show is a Hemi powered 41 Willys coupe,4 speed , in primer grey.FAR KEN AWESOME!! And some good old school rock and roll .Find it and watch it!!

To add to the records...

Nightcrawler is a great (nasty) film from 2014. The main character drives around a new Dodge Challenger. Given his job of capturing video for news networks, you can guess what he gets up to. There's a cool scene where he is chasing cop cars which are chasing a suspect.

Just finished watching Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry (1974). Loved the Charger and the high-powered cop car, and the Bell JetRanger helicopter chase also.

I read an interview recently with Peter Fonda where he talks about Dirty Mary Crazy Larry. He said he did most of the driving scenes and stunts with Adam Rourke (Deke) and Susan George in the car. All of it was done at actual speed, not at half speed where the film is usually sped up to make it look like it was done at actual speed. Susan George was never told what they'd be doing during the chase scenes because they wanted her reactions to be real (terrified).

I recently saw Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof on SBS and the chase between the 1970 440 Dodge Challenger and the 1969 Dodge Charger was pretty cool.

Looks like a lot of crazy action including a gunman hanging out of a VH Charger firing a machine gun. Hope to see it one day!
