Just providing info to everybody in case they want to try a good drop...

I used to just go to my local Danno's, but their range has gone downhill, and the prices have gone steeply uphill...

So glad I've extrapolated a little...

If you really want a treat, as suggested before, Chimay is a great one.

The beer I want to try most atm is probably Bush. When I last went to Purvis, they were 'out'...will try again

Chimay Rouge -red
Chimay Bleue -blue
Chimay Blanch -white

I agree with bloke before bout vb its for p platers and those who through there cans everywhere my everyday beer is tooheys new and carlton draught but my two fave beers would be hahn premium (not light) Blue tongue similar to hahn premium. I dont understand why such a fowl beer as fosters is marketed as our so called beer it is hard to find and tastes junk. I cant stand vb but i would put it as our export tastes better than fosters. And the most overated beer for price drumroll ...................................... Crown lager. I think if your going to make a premium beer not only should the packaging look premium the beer (most important thing of course) should be premium. How can they get away in this day and age of palming off such crap for so much Yet again i think vb in the same bottle would be better and i hate vb. Can anyone tell me for sure what crown lager was made of i have hered so many differant stories bout what crown lager was named before bottled as it is today?

I recently broke a 20-year beer drought (a long time to clear the palate).
A co-worker recommended some Japanese beers, Kirin and Sapporo to be specific. Of these, I preferred Kirin - I got a buzz without getting hammered (which would be very easy considering the last alcoholic drink I had was San Miguel mixed with brandy when I was 15, back in the Philippines). Sapporo seemed to be a darker, European-style beer.

It's been suggested I try Guinness next. Any other suggestions?

Good to see this is still going. I cant believe beers like st george, sol and corona's are liked, honestly its like beer flavored water. It would have to be a 60 degree day before I willing consume that stuff.

Has anyone tried VB Raw? Its their crack at low carb and its not bad. For those who dont like VB its easy to drink and seems to have more flavor than the other low carbs. Just got a 6 pack for a taste and it was ok.

Fled74 as you may have heard guiness is great but its a beer soup, you might want to try a lighter stout before going that far up the scale.

I had a beer a couple of months ago called Quilmes it is from Argentina havnt looked back since I love it but normal bottle shops dont stock it I have to get it from Dan Murphys lol other than that the usual beers crownies, caronas, millers chill, pure blonde.

Not a bad beer at all and its from Healesville.. Reminds me of Little Creatures ...

being female I dont really enjoy beer as much as you guys do BUT I really like Barefoot Radler

:

I will drink carona if there is nothing else, VB is all in the title (visitors beer) I used to drink TEDs before I tasted Barefoot Radler....I never looked back!!

Pure Blonde is okay
Millers Chill is pretty good
Crownies are okay
Stella is good
Guinesss is good but every now and then type of drink...

Im a wild turkey/Jacks drinker at heart

Bit harsh Peuty..... I've never been much of a fan till i had a nice coffee guiness a while back. It was quite nice...like an iced coffee.

Well great to see a lady in here talking beer. Can't agree with the pure blonde but stella is drinkable. Fully agree on the VB and carona. I recomend trying some of the other beers mentioned on here and you might surprsie yourelf and turn away from wild turkey....

Its quite funny when a girl knows her beers. My sister was in a bottle shop and asked for little creatures pale ale the other day (probably because she has heard me rabit on about them). The staff member was quite surprised and proceeded to tell all his colleagues that he had finally found a female customer that knew what a half decent beer was.....

For an everyday beer, like an after mowing beer lol, I find it hard to go past Boag's Draught. Bloody good stuff it is, their premium is bloody good too.

One thing the Taswegians did get right!

Fully agree with that. Nothing wrong with an old Boag's. Its my standard fall back beer because virtually everyone has it and it never fails me. I was very surprised with the Draught though. I don't like draught beers much but theirs was very pleasant...

Yeah I have tried it on numerous occasions, always with the idea of giving it a second/third/fourth chance, but I always regret it. I can understand why people would like it, but it is not for me.

I just picked up one of those beers infused with lime, barefoot radler. Never had it, on special, thought I'd grab a 6er. Well what a horrid thing it was. Straight to my brother for him to suffer through. I couldn't quite put my finger on it..but it's like when you drink something like Melbourne bitter, that you've poured a lukewarm shot of midori into. You get the aftertaste first!
Miller chill is barely passable but it gave me that sickly feeling after knocking down a 6pack

Currently in the middle of James Squire Amber Ale. Verrrry goooood! Usually on the Toohey's Gold 30can block, but thought I would spoil myself this week, with something I only tried a week ago, and like.
Not cheap, but a change is good as a holiday.

Love a good TED or three, i wouldn't touch VB with a ten foot pole as i was taught not to drink paint thinners. I actually don't mind a good stout like kilkenny or guiness. Here in Adelaide we have a place called Grumpy's brewhaus in hahndorf where they do awesome home brewed beers in 1200L lots as well as wood fired pizza. their Left Dover stout is awesome, as is a number of their other unique brewing masterpieces, i have struck the occasional glass i wasn't fond of. I find most tasmanian beers taste almost the same be it boags or cascade. not saying they're bad just not all that adventurous to my pallet.

Teds is that "all rounder" I enjoy most weeks. Easy to drink and not unpallateable. Cheap too. I "splurge" with James squires, sometimes a mixed carton that's always good! Little creatures too but once again, bulk luxury only.

Hah....another rubbish beer that a few guys brought around to my place once. I have a very rough 'ranking' of beers in a cupboard i hardly use. Basically one bottle of each beer from left (good) to right (rubbish). That stuff is the last on the right. For a reason. Its not beer at all...as you say RG.

Its funny because the guys that brought it around (who admit to not being very impressed by it) got it was because it was cheap (on sale...for a reason) and because they dont' like 'heavy' (ie. REAL) beers i have in stock. Basically these beers are 'brewed' (use that term loosely) so they dont' taste like beer at all. They are beer for non beer drinkers. If you don't like beer then
a: try some truly good ones...saying 'i don't like beer' because you drink VB doesn't count
b: if you still dont' like it, drink spirits or wine or whatever. Don't waste your money on rubbish that is 'new age' or whatever.

Hmm...i couldn't find it as a case either Andrew. Was going to keep some in stock for a bit of refreshment after working on the old XR6 on the weekends....

As for Coopers...well you have to be careful. If i can't find anything better at a pub i still get the coopers ales (and i mentioned above i was happy with the extra strong ale i sampled) but you need to be carefu. They are a 'maintstream' set up these days and sometimes they can disapoint.

Little creatures pilsener though is very nice. I still prefer the pale ale (though the others are ok too) over the pilsener.

As for the guiness. Yes it is a very aquired taste. I know a guy who only ever drank that stuff...which was puzzling. For me, i only drink it if i'm in the mood and in winter...DON'T attempt to drink it as a 'lawnmower' beer.

Its a bit like my experience with blonde beers. No matter which ones i try (including highly regarded belgians...) i just can't enjoy it. The best thing about beer is there are so many styles and variations on the theme....
