The drive to and from the city last night was a lot quicker compared to what Friday nights are usually like.

how's your supply of tin foil?

and do we really need someone to hold our hand at every step and tell us how to live? I eat healthy and exercise. I didn't need the govt to tell me to do that.

Viruses like this often don't care how healthy you are. You can still get infected. This means that even though your symptoms may be mild or non existent, you can still spread it to others more vulnerable (elderly, medical condition etc).

This is not about preventing or stopping the virus. Its about slowing the spread so that our resources can cope. Have a heart.

They're only testing people with travel history or someone who has come into contact with someone with travel history.

You can't just go in and get tested just because you've got symptoms, they're worrying about it at work and anyone with a cold is being treated like they've got tuberculosis

Here's a high profile case to use as an example of how Australia is in bad shape with regards to how we are conducting our Covi testing and isolation rules.

Channel 9's Richard Wilkins had contact with Tom Hanks wife Rita on the 7th of March, both at the studios and outside (Opera House). After the Wilson's reported they had tested positive (March 12), Richard Wilkins himself thought he might as well get checked (was not advised by CH9 to do so), even tough he had absolutely no symptoms whatsoever. He was tested positive a day and a bit later, and reported as positive on March 15.

9 days later, Wilkins still showed no symptoms, and did another test Thursday (March 19), again testing positive. He was on TV this morning saying he feels great and is concerned that this virus has shown no symptoms before and after he tested positive. He is 65 years old, in the medium/high risk category. To be cleared, people have to test negative twice in a 24 hour period. And as Wilkins tested positive, he now has to wait a few more days for another test.

This example shows that you can be of any age - be infected - not know it - and unknowingly be passing it on to people. Just go to any shopping centre in Australia, even now after all the warning have been made clear, and you will see how serious 99% of Australia is taking this.

The South Korean example of testing anyone and everyone that rocked up to a drive-through testing centre, is THE best way to deal with the spread. Anyone who was tested was told to isolate until the results came through (6-8 hours after test). And most South Koreans isolated at home even though they tested negative. We don't have enough, and currently cannot produce our own Covi testing kits, to test anyone who wants to be checked.

Compare what South Korea did to what Australia is doing, and we really are up **** creek without a paddle.

i think you are being alarmist, just like the media.

if you overhype a situation it often has the opposite effect than what is intended. In this case, the seriousness of the situation isn't really making an impact because the media are going over the top. People just switch off.

Using hypothetical assumptions and 'possible outcomes' to try to get the message across is counter productive.

Testing kits are not unlimited. What more do you expect them to do? If you don't have the resources to test everyone you have to prioritise somehow. Currently it is toward those who are symptomatic and/or have been travelling or been in contact with someone who has.

Statistics coming from Italy show 99% of those who've died from Covid-19 have prior health complications.

I don't have a supply of tin foil hats, but I do have confirmation from FedEx my shipment of 12 bottles of lyposomal Vitamin C from the US is on the way.

I have zero fear of contracting this virus. Neither do I subscribe to the fear porn peddled by the media and bed wetters.

This Covid 19 with loss of employment extending what- 6 months-12 months-16 months- has the potential to be devastating on mortgage defaults....

Time to batten down the hatches, hoard and buy guns to defend the hoarded goodies....oh no- wrong country
Well, it seems this has flowed on to us as well now.

All banks are offering support packages - but they mostly seem to cater to business customers.

I have applied for help with ANZ - lets see if they call me next week as promised.

CBA have already offered to help me with my credit card, but it was like getting blood out of a stone and I don't think the person I spoke to had a grasp on reality - I only got help when I insisted that I speak to someone above her as she had no clue at all about finances.

I hope it's not going to be like the 'help' offered to me by my Super fund when I was about to lose my house during my divorce and I asked to access some of my Super.

First I had to default and wait a month for it to appear. (where??)

Then I had to apply for government benefits.

Then I had to be on them for 3 months.

Then I had to fill out a bunch of forms and the most I could get if they approved me (and there was no guarantee they would after all that) was $10k.

What a great way to help people in need.

ANZ asked if I was on Government benefits in their hardship application.

Lets see if they ask me to default first then apply for benefits then wait a while while I sink even further before they throw me a few crumbs.

Fingers crossed ay...

Flu shots are available now at the major pharmacies. Winter is ending in the other half. This could be affecting the larger death toll and people with compromised immune systems.

Correct. The efficacy of the flu vaccine is typically in the single digit percent according to the manufacturers package insert.

2GB has been advertising the Flu shot for Chemist Warehouse for weeks now.

2 weeks ago I was at my doctor in Marrickville to get the 1yr shots for my daughter.

I asked if I can go and grab the Flu shot from the chemist so he can give it to me. No worries.

Went to Chemist Warehouse and was shocked that they will not get it till the end of April - and I had to book it online.

I asked why they are advertising it now and what is the delay and she said most stores are on a similar time frame and she had no clue of the advertising.

Sure enough, if you go to Chemist Warehouse and try to book the Flu shot in Marrickville the first date available is 28th April.

I did email 2GB asking why they are advertising a product in Late Feb / early March that isn't available for months and they just replied saying thanks for the email.

Ok, I have fooled around with the site.

Bankstown and Hyde Park 30th March, Punchbowl 6th April, Campsie May 11!, Hurstville April 2nd.

Why such a huge gap in availability?????

May book the Hyde park one and get it done before I start work. Sooner the better.

Edit: Just tried to book Hyde Park. They have a glitch in their system. Calendar says ther have available bookings, but then below both morning and afternoon slots booked out. Same with the 31st.

Go figure....

Yep, same here, the Wife and I discussed it a fortnight ago so I looked on the website, not available until 31st March, no bookings available until late April and only a few spots, tried other outlets and the wait was longer again.
As my Wife works in aged care if they haven't had it done by 1/5 they cant go to work.

I've been told to work from home on Monday to keep testing out the new RDP solution instead of using the normal VDP solution.

You still have to login to VDP to then RDP to your physical desktop though. Took me longer to get in on a Saturday than Friday. I reckon I will be driving to work on Monday haha

Also to take my iPad home but I can't code on that. I use my iPad for testing apps and having the Supercars on while at work

I work in a District School which has 140 primary school kids and about 200 secondary school students..There is about 50 staff and a few reliefs in each department so about 400 altogether . My job is about 60% cleaning and 40% grounds work .. As of last week I'm now 100% cleaning .

I'm required now to rush around like a blue bum fly cleaning , wiping , disinfecting everything constantly . It's already driving me nuts but that's okay . All four of us EFA's are doing this and another one starts tomorrow . Three meetings with our School Business Manager and Principal in five days to re -iterate new protocols on disinfection dished out by the DoE .

Also told that if at some stage the schools are closed we will be still working on a bunch of jobs for an indefinite period ..God only knows what they'll get us to do if that happens .

I might grumble what's going on but I have a job , I know I'll have an income but it truly devastates me that fellow Aussies will die from this and so many millions will be impacted badly financially and socially and in all sorts of other medical ways while this rotten disease is getting fought .

It all bloody sucks..

Trump better get off his rhetoric filled backside and start making some very hard decisions . I hope the malaria drug makes a difference . That'd be great but they're now saying that the disease is going to have a much bigger impact on the USA than what Trump says . Listen to him at his press conferences and he trots out the usual crap he usually does trying to say that it's under control. It bloody isn't . Tell the American people the total truth Trump because if they get told that it might make it easier to get them to self isolate or take better measures in public.

They're just saying on TV now that it's spread ten times the size of infections in New York State in the past seven days with 8000 confirmed infected that they know of .

By all means quickly trial the malaria drug but that's not going to wipe out the disease for a fair while even if hopefully it's pretty effective on current sick people.
It's multiplying spreading as each day passes so all sorts of decisions not least by Trump's mob have to start happening right now.
