from what i could make out interior was very very similar to current gen, but unfortunately couldn't do much as he drove past about 1m infront of me on pakington st, should of ran after it in traffic instead of going back to work
it was the g6e model that was in the spy pics only a few weeks back. |

For those of us who are interested, had a quick chat to spyman today he's fine but is busy atm with some other work "non car related" which he needs to attend to before all else, when he has a moment he will jump back on.

Not quite. All manual F6's are now built out, but there are still roughly 30 F6 autos to go. Should all be wrapped up by the end of May.

What are we all guessing the price tag of an XR8 will be? RRP or street price.
And what's the general consensus of the engine? Is it going to be supercharged? |

if i were Ford and were planning on releasing the XR8 in three spec levels i'd do as follows:
XR8 - 290 5.0 N/A - 18's, cloth, standard audio etc XR8 GS - 315 5.0 Blown - 19's, leather, premo XR8 Sprint - 335 5.0 Blown - 19's, leather, premo, brembo's, R-Spec suspension etc among a few other things, and price accordingly. They have all the bits, so it's not much of a stretch.

I think it will be around the 50k mark. It definitely wont have the tech of the SS and also the cheap price, but im tipping with that engine it may come out faster than the GT due to being much lighter. I think it will be a ball tearer, i wont be in the market for one as i want a GT but those that buy them will get a great package, even if the interior isn't updated as much as some want.

Not if it's priced accordingly and revs hard. The SS only puts out 270 in manual, I think a nice high revving high tech NA coyote would actually be a nice thing.

Why would ford AU waste money on DE-Tuning a brilliant mass-produced motor - which retails in the US for around US$7K ????? |

If you detune the motor other parts of the car don't have to be as strong and you can price the overall package cheaper.

I take your point in principal, however they would presumably use the current FPV GT/GS transmission & drive-train. (although this is a highly unlikley proposition anyway - as Ford have already indicated the S/C engine is destined for the XR8)
