If they used a NA Coyote 5.0 (they won't) they wouldn't need to detune it, they can just pluck a figure out of the sky like they did with the Miami...

Miami = 335kW

Coyote = 420hp

Yeah right !

XR8 Sprint - 335 5.0 Blown - 19's, leather, premo, brembo's, R-Spec suspension etc

among a few other things, and price accordingly. They have all the bits, so it's not much of a stretch.
There aim for FH should be volume to clear up stock and keep suppliers "happy".

One XR8, 335kw, 18's standard, cloth standard.

Only options should be 19's, leather, sound, brembo's.

Maybe make a "Sprint" pack, that includes all the extra's a a small discount if you must.

Make the 18's accept brembo's so you dont have to get the 19's aswell. Jack the price up on the options if you want, but leave the RRP on the base XR8 below $50k.

It should only be $5k or so more than the XR6T, which should also be subjected to the same options. $45k for a XR6T seems about right.

Whether they make millions or lose millions from FH means next to nothing now.

Pretty sure Subaru just lobbed the new STi in at $55k..its a tough market.

Brembo brakes fit under 18 inch wheels. The factory ones at least

I'm guessing around 50k. If the GS was 55 then I think that's not a stretch.

I'm not sure of the actual truth or the chances they will use the "sprint" badge but I think that would be an absolutely awesome idea. Has a descent but not over the top following with good history. Enough to call upon for a new model without having to live up to a half century of HO like glory.

Because it would be a compliance and testing nightmare.

I think a lot of people here are forgetting just how few cars you're asking for massive development on. The volume simply doesn't justify the development cost.

I like the idea of using the spring name as well, celebrate the last, and probably the best ever xr8 by using the badge from the first proper xr8.

Asi it's the final curtains for the Falc, wouldn't using "Autumn" be more appropriate than "Spring"?

Because if you optioned those from a dealer you would be paying double or more than if you got them aftermarket.

The same as if they screw people that option up to 6 and 4 spot Brembos.

So, it might be fair to assume the XR8 won't be too far off the 2015 'Stang?

As reported, the FPV name will disappear altogether in December when a facelifted ‘FG MkIII’ version of the current Falcon, which will reintroduce the XR8 badge for one last fling, goes on sale and carries the car-maker to the end of Australian production in late 2016.
Interesting comment to make when Ford have been referring to it as a “new model”. Are GoAuto being facetious or are they onto something?

Well really it is a FG MkIII....

Probably be the same as EF-EL,BA-BF, different model codes to differentiate between the two.

EF-EL and BA-BF are probably not apt comparisons given the amount of sheetmetal changes we've seen, although your point is right.

ED-EF perhaps.

But I agree with you, it would be better if they did a model designation change and not just make this a MKIII.

Have you seen an EF-EL, or a BA-BF Falcon? And then have you see the images spyman has posted on here of the new Falcon?
We know that the new model has new front and rear lights, front and rear bumpers, grills, a new bonnet, new boot and probably more we don't know about yet (for obvious reasons). Then look at the comparisons you made. The only difference between the EF and EL was a different grill and slight changes to the tail lights. The BA to BF change was simply a different bumper (new lights and bumper came with BF2).
The new Falcon hasn't even been revealed yet and we know it's a much larger facelift than the EF-EL or BA-BF facelifts.
If you want a comparison with previous Falcons, think AU3-BA *or ED-EF) minus the interior and running gear.

Don't get too hung up on the FG Mk3 badge either.

Actually... to be fair... that was the case for Fairmont and above... but for Falcon & Futura models... the EL had an all new bonnet, headlights (well, lenses at least), front bumper and included a grill (where the EF didn't have one).... then had the orange indicators in the rear tail light assembly (as you stated), as opposed to the EF's clear indicators (confusingly opposite on Wagon)... switch gear, etc. inside became colour coded... and there was a roll centre adjustment in the rear end (!?? from memory) plus a myriad of minor changes elsewhere, no doubt

Um my point was the changes are mostly cosmetic, which is essentially what you just wrote yourself. E.g same running gear and most interior unchanged. Apart from a different front and rear end, most of whats in between hasnt changed and more than likely wont for cost reasons.

And again, to be fair... in the change from AU3 to BA... the rear floorpan of the car was changed to allow for the control blade IRS set-up.. which included a slight wheelbase increase... then the entire front & rear sheet metal was replaced.. and the roof (to change the top line of the front & rear screens, lower the mid point of the roofline etc.) and there were changes to the front chassis rails & radiator panel, etc also. I know you did say "minus the interior & running gear"... but the list in those areas is almost endless.

I would suggest you'd be looking at something closer to XA - XB !?? Where there are enough changes to make it look like a different model... but mainly just a "styling exercise" rather than a "full update"

Whatever it is... I'm sure, from the spy pics & photoshops shown in this thread... it will be great !!
