If they used a NA Coyote 5.0 (they won't) they wouldn't need to detune it, they can just pluck a figure out of the sky like they did with the Miami...
Miami = 335kW Coyote = 420hp Yeah right ! |

One XR8, 335kw, 18's standard, cloth standard. Only options should be 19's, leather, sound, brembo's. Maybe make a "Sprint" pack, that includes all the extra's a a small discount if you must. Make the 18's accept brembo's so you dont have to get the 19's aswell. Jack the price up on the options if you want, but leave the RRP on the base XR8 below $50k. It should only be $5k or so more than the XR6T, which should also be subjected to the same options. $45k for a XR6T seems about right. Whether they make millions or lose millions from FH means next to nothing now. Pretty sure Subaru just lobbed the new STi in at $55k..its a tough market.

I'm not sure of the actual truth or the chances they will use the "sprint" badge but I think that would be an absolutely awesome idea. Has a descent but not over the top following with good history. Enough to call upon for a new model without having to live up to a half century of HO like glory.

I think a lot of people here are forgetting just how few cars you're asking for massive development on. The volume simply doesn't justify the development cost. |

I like the idea of using the spring name as well, celebrate the last, and probably the best ever xr8 by using the badge from the first proper xr8.

So, it might be fair to assume the XR8 won't be too far off the 2015 'Stang?

Seriously, there should be a thread for Spyman to post his pics in. And that's it. A pics only, Spyman only thread. And then another thread for discussion.

nope, if he wants to post here again he can, doesn't make any difference. As i've mentioned before, when the official product is released a new thread will be created.

Well really it is a FG MkIII....
Probably be the same as EF-EL,BA-BF, different model codes to differentiate between the two.

EF-EL and BA-BF are probably not apt comparisons given the amount of sheetmetal changes we've seen, although your point is right.
ED-EF perhaps. But I agree with you, it would be better if they did a model designation change and not just make this a MKIII.

We know that the new model has new front and rear lights, front and rear bumpers, grills, a new bonnet, new boot and probably more we don't know about yet (for obvious reasons). Then look at the comparisons you made. The only difference between the EF and EL was a different grill and slight changes to the tail lights. The BA to BF change was simply a different bumper (new lights and bumper came with BF2). The new Falcon hasn't even been revealed yet and we know it's a much larger facelift than the EF-EL or BA-BF facelifts. If you want a comparison with previous Falcons, think AU3-BA *or ED-EF) minus the interior and running gear. Don't get too hung up on the FG Mk3 badge either. |

I would suggest you'd be looking at something closer to XA - XB !?? Where there are enough changes to make it look like a different model... but mainly just a "styling exercise" rather than a "full update" Whatever it is... I'm sure, from the spy pics & photoshops shown in this thread... it will be great !! D
