Hi got a 2002 AU111 SR with LPG conversion in 2004 and goes fine, good on the long distance trips. About me I cut my teeth in on '35 V8 3 ton Truck, you know the model crash box went like hell. couldn't stop them...mechanical brakes...and since then had a '35 Terraplane, Mark 11 Zephyr, Cortinas, a couple of F100s up in the Territory and a '51 V8 Pilot ute which had been restored and is sitting in the Transport and Technology Museum at Auckland I believe. I have had other vehicles mostly dung wagons not worth talking about.Living in Brisbane at the moment after being up in the NT for 20 odd years. and loking for some one who might know something about AUs

Hi there, I just realised I hadn't even introduced myself properly lol. Anyways, I have had a stack of EF/ELs....and hated AUs. Then one came up that was too good a deal to pass up, so we bought it for the missus to use. Tis a series 1 Ghia.
I liked driving it so much, I went out and bought myself one lol |

Very nice! I am partial to two-tone Fairlanes. Are those chrome wheel arches I see? Whereabouts in Vic are you?
jauser, AU cab chassis look great. I saw one a white one the other day in Kealba, Vic, and the front end looked like it had just come out of the factory. For a workhorse like that, it was really immaculate.

Thanks Dauphin. I originally bought a 6 cylinder one colour (silver) sportsman lane...from a car yard (First and VERY last time I ever buy from a yard lol) And got it home, and noticed in the right light, that it was covered in hail damage - And it was pouring oil on my driveway. So I went back in, and thank god, got my cash back. Then bought this one (which is a V8 on LPG) I preferred the single colour, but the two tone is slowly growing on me.
Yeah they are chrome wheel arch trims (since removed and sold because I hated them lol) And I'm from Canberra, not Vic. I just bought the fairlane from Vic (Mt Evelyn) |

G'day guys my name is Jason.a couple of months ago I bought my first fairlane,it is a 99 au fairlane Ghia black in colour, grey interior, sunroof and an in line vct 6.
I got the car off eBay off a car dealer(yes I was very game or stupid) Overall the mechanics are good, the body is straight except for a couple of dings but being black there are light scratches through a lot of the paint work.one of the many things the dealer forgot to mention was the car has been lowered and the front wheels rub on the guards going up the littlest of driveways. Overall I bought well nutting through a few minor issues but loving the car . Will post pics soon. Cheers |

Welcome, Jason. Have you tried rolling the insides of the front wheel arches? It's very easy to do with a hairdryer and a mallet. It solved my issue when fitting larger wheels after having it being lowered.
Black is a pain to keep clean but when they are polished up they look great with the contrasting chrome the Fairlane has.

Thanks guys.
Dauphin no I have not rolled the guards but I will give it a go.( the last owner cut the inside lip off with a grinder on the passenger side.) So what's the procedure ,do I hold the blow dryer on the guard or under it and do I hit the lip in or up. Thanks in advance. |

Howdy, been on here for a while with eseries, thought I better introduce myself here.
98 fairmont wagon with 160, 000 kms. Exterior mint, interior not quite as mint. Will make an awesome second car for the growing family, must say my opinion of au's has been raised Only issues at the moment are a really rough start up (really kicks through the car when it fires) and an occasional battery warning light. Its going to stay close to stock, just have to fix up a lot of the ratty trim inside and maybe get some decent name brand tires on it. Hope you guys like it

Hi K, looks like a nice and neat Fairmont wagon you have shown us. Look after it and it will look after you, and will make a great reliable family hauler.

Hi all,
well I'm new to this forum, so thought I'd just say HI ! I don't own an AU and haven't seen any need to yet, but I'm from an obsessive collector petrol head family and over the last couple of years, AU's have started to join the fleet of other family members. So because I do 99% of the family wrenching I started to need info on what the Au has introduced new. A BIG thank you to all those who have contributed technical data to the forums, they have helped already. Hopefully as I get more hands on time with the Au's I'll be able to contribute some helpful feed.

Hi ford folk! ,
I just brought my third falcon, an AU wagon on factory duel fuel. i really wanted a practical car with a bit if power but not too costly at the bowser.. im pretty exited to be honest as ive never owned a "modern" falcon. my first was a paddock car XA sedan when i was 14, my next one was a black XB coupe (wish I still had that one!) when I was eighteen..now this rocket. I always loved the look of the AU's ever since they were released and I knew that one day I would own one and that day is today ! I'm not too up with forums so I thought that this would be a great way to meet other AU owners and find out important information about the vehicle . Cheers Derek |

Derek, you're in the right spot mate and welcome. The AUvians are a close knit group, eager to help out whenever possible.
Read through the stickies and you will fill your mind with lots of info. From there, anything you haven't had answered just ask away and someone will get back to you with an appropriate answer. Cheers Vincenzo
