When you drive around a half empty car park for 10minutes on a 38degree day trying to find the least likely space that your car will get damaged (ignoring the nice shady spots) then settle for the furthest space away from the entrance and cursing all the wide disabled spots. Then almost popping an eyeball on return to find someone has ignored all the other vacant spots and has parked next to me!

Seeing a station wagon with kids in it pull up next to the XY, and sprinting over to help them open their doors to avoid the inevitble. They thought i was a weirdo.

When your car has been at the smash repairers for a week and a half, and the minute you take it back you go for a long, long drive to get reacquainted.

Every time you take the misses into town, and you inevitably go into the auto shops. Then she says she don't mind and it just makes you grin from ear to ear

When your 5yo boy and your 3yo girl are playing the wii. And the boy says to the girl, that she's running out of petrol. Because her character is low on energy.

When you and the brother you live with finally realise you have no room left to work on either of your project cars so instead of moving to a place with a bigger garage you buy an industrial unit.

So many great lines in this thread.....
Sitting in the shed just having a coffee thinking & looking at the car..... Wife says you care more about that dam car than you do me.... Window shopping on Ebay for that next mod you must do.... When the best your wife can come up within an argument is that you annoyed her so much she wants to damage your car...... 4am cant sleep and you wash & polish the car..... Wife complains she cant find the vacuum cleaner you left in the shed..... Wife cant find any chucks wipes cos you used them on the car to clean the interior (even though she bought some yesturday)..... When you wash your car and your say expletives when you find a stone chip or scratch.... Kids & feet on your seats...... When people say how great your car looks and you think its dirty at the time.... When someone else is driving your car but you still look at all the gauges to see if everything is where it should be... When you notice or hear something and no one else can hear/feel anything is wrong and you spend hours investigating..... You are pitching it hard thru a corner and can tell the right rear is a couple pounds down to the rest of the tyres.... Your chucked in the first 5 litres of oil in the BA and grab the second lot of oil and tip more oil in and stop just at the fill line of the dipstick (just going by roughly how much you added by looking and weight)... without even thinking about it.... You buy a X taxi as a daily driver and it turns into a XR6 replica....

You are talking on the phone to a girl you only just started seeing, and she asks what are you doing, and you say "sleeping on the sofa bed"
and she is getting to know you well when she says "it's because it's next to your car isn't it" "Why don't you sleep in your bed its bigger and more comfy!" "It is but I can't take the car into the bedroom can I??"

- When your lady friend won't let you go for a drive in her car, because she's afraid you're going to find a heap of things wrong and a heap of excuses to pull her car apart
- When you're driving down the freeway and you see an old XG Longreach ute with a nice big Crow Cams window sticker on the back, and you think 'Yep, he's a car guy'

You know you're a car guy when you're struggling a bit cash wise, and find an artist friend who is happy to live in the garage for a few months, living next to your car, and you give them one rule: The second you scratch the car, you're out of here in 5 minutes ago!! When you realise that cars cost less than girlfriends When driving your car every few weeks because every few weeks you need something that makes your day that little bit better
