Looks like there's a re-make in production

Very cool old school movie , the capri was highly modified and both cars sound the bizz . A good watch and if you know the towns a good laugh of how things were back then .

For anyone who's interested this Tarantino movie (Death Proof) is on SBS TWO tonight at 8:30pm followed at 10:20pm by Ryan Gosling in Drive.

That's incredible. I just pulled it off my DVD shelf to watch last night while doing my BAS! What a coincidence. All the talking scenes are pretty slow but it has huge payoffs.

Thanks for alerting us to this film, it was a lot of fun. That Mini went through a lot, and I've never seen Kingswoods driven so well before. Loved how they sold more and more of the panels off the Mini as the film went on. Tony Barry's voice is always incredible and there's a real treat for the ladies at the end.

G'day..."Kick 'er in the guts Barry "..several of the original Mad Max chases are often played and two others I love to watch are the famous Bullitt one and a lesser known one that went on for pretty much the whole movie .. The movie was called Duel , the actor was Dennis Weaver and the combatants were a car and a petrol tanker..It was made in the early 1970's Here's the trailer for it ..So , Mad Max , Bullitt and Duel for me.. Honourable mentions to a few James Bond car chases too numerous to mention and the "Italian Job " with the mini's. Back to Duel again and here's the You Tube link to the complete movie if anyone is interested .https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKMiCGzkMIg .Cheers Rod..

I know Duel very well! It was a telemovie made by Steven Spielberg and features a Plymouth Valiant throughout.

Here's the truck from the film and a replica Valiant:

A compilation of car chases from the Bluey TV show from the 1970s, something for the Valiant fans (there's a P5 LTD in it also):

I discovered this great car chase last night from the film Strange Shadows in an Empty Room (1976).

Ford Mustang vs. Chevrolet Chevelle (skip to 60 seconds for the start of the chase):

Anyway, I still think one of the most underrated movie car chases is from a little known Australian movie called The Chain Reaction. Here is a link to the trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uK8GhuA_WHE

I remember The Chain Reaction, it's an Aussie film and had a bit of a (first) Mad Max feeling to it.
Bit of a bump, but recently saw the movie "The Chain Reaction", and it's really quite good for a 1980 Aussie production.

The cars primarily featured are a P5 LTD, and a modified HX/HZ 1-tonner. They get completely thrashed at the end - as per the video segment in this link:
https://aso.gov.au/titles/features/t...eaction/clip3/

Quite a few of the original Mad Max cast feature, including Steve Bisley and Hugh Keays-Byrne; with a tiny cameo from Mel right at the beginning in the workshop on a creeper.
