Dunno about that, plenty of different people and cars turning up to our local tuning days, powercruises, roll racing and wednesday night drag racing to name a few.

As a percentage of cars sold it would be a tiny amount though...

Because it puts a smile on your face, every time you sit in it and turn the key.
Something a Hybrid Camry certainly doesn't do.

Hybrid Camry's put a smile on MY face- I lol when I see someone driving one. My son went through a period of asking which car brands were "cool" when he was younger- he still remembers my reply when he asked me about Toyotas... "no, son. Toyotas are for people who have given up on life"

Car enthusiasts also pick and choose between many different brands and types of cars .My advice is go and see some JZ or UZ powered track or drag cars or try some off road tracks and discover that many Toyota owners have passion for cars. |

I know some people with performance type cars will do tack days and all the other fun stuff, but most owners won't. I know a few people with quick cars and only one takes it to the track and uses it to its full capability. Just like with the F150 Raptor. How many owners really drive it flat stick through the desert using all available horsepower and suspension travel? Hardly any. Now ask all F150 Raptor owners if they wish it had the same engines as the standard F150 so it was better on fuel. I bet most owners would say no way. |

My car has never been to a track, yet it gets driven harder for longer than any track day.
Just did 550km and it took 3 tanks of fuel. Falcons, mustangs, Porsches. We are out there driving them hard, you just won't see us. What's fuel economy...

Surely, if Ford are going to release the Raptor with a diesel, the 3.0 V6 Powerstroke would be a much better option than the 2.0 Ecoblue. 186kW and 596Nm.
I still feel that the 2.0 will replace the 2.2 and the 3.0 will replace the 3.2 in Australia. http://www.tfltruck.com/2018/01/2018...oke-diesel-v6/ Quote:

I'd expect the new 3.0L Powerstroke diesel to find it's way into the Ranger and Everest at the next model makeover.

Its only carsales but if the US gets a V6 and we get a tuned 2.0 then wow...just wow. I cant see how they think 215HP is enough for this car and I bet he $$ they will ask for it. The bloody Wildtrack is overpriced and its engine is nothing special either. RIP FPV utes.

I have no idea on the new engine line up, but how could Ford pitch a 2.0 Raptor over a 3.2 Wildtrack at around 20 grand more?

While unless I win lotto I won't be buying this (actually if I win lotto I'm buying a LandCruiser), I'd be pretty disappointed if it comes with a 2l 4 cylinder engine.
I know they're getting good power out of little motors these days, but it's a Raptor, they're advertising it as a race ready vehicle. I'd want something beefy under the bonnet to go with the other changes. Bring on an efficient 2l engine for the rest of the range (and i'm skeptical about how efficient it would be moving such a big vehicle. The tiny engine in the sister in law's CX-5 chews through more fuel than my Falcon), but the high performance flagship variant doesn't just deserve a big, powerful engine. It needs it. |

I may have missed something concrete, but I have a hunch they’re going to prove the 2l theory wrong in the end. |

Ford not having the V6 powerstroke diesel in the Ranger would be a big mistake imo.

^^agreed, I think the 3.2 I5 has run its course. Ford only needs the 2.0 and 3.0 for the Ranger diesels.

What does the engine have to do with the rear suspension? Coils ride better and have more suspension travel over rough ground. They wouldn't use them for anything other than they are better off road. Nothing to do with how much power is being pushed to them.

10 years ago if you wanted a performance falcon, the f6 was it. You couldn't deny it. Yet people often chose the lumpy, loud, guzzling v8 that wasn't particularly quick. The gt has DNA. A 2litre could be quicker than a big ecoboost, who knows. But to sell cars with a reputation like this, it must stir the emotions and the engine is the most important part in this. Raptors are emotional, not sensible. Give it a coyote! :p

I read many times on here part of the reason we never got a new XR8 Ute was because the rear end couldn’t handle the power put out by the 5.0, I assumed Ranger may have been in a similar situation, perhaps not from a pure power perspective, but as a whole package.
