Now that all the Victorian teams have been eliminated, I don't care what happens from here. My sentimental choice for the flag is Fremantle as they are the only team of the four who haven't experienced the joy of winning a Grand Final.

Personally, as long as Sydney don't win, I don't care who wins.

Freo, way to go! A vote is a vote regardless of gender, it is only because political correctness has been raised that we are all now aware of it. like the term 'guys' can refer to both genders....we all love fords thats what matters and if you don't you shouldn't be here.....lol

For me, either WCE or Freo for the flag.

Feel sorry because I still reckon WCE is superior to Sydney...if WCE had a forwardline they would have won. Philip Matera would have helped, and Drew Banfield hitting the post (a goal to make it a 15 point lead) was what cost the Eagles.

Sydney are better this year though. They deserve it more this year than last, do the Swans.

I (probably like all West australians) am now hoping that we will get an all WA grand final - (would be laughing if Freo got it too). The only thing that stands in the way of this is sydney. I am doubting that Adelaide will challenge the Eagles much... (waiting to get flamed for that...). Good to see freo go up against sydney, prehaps their different style to the Eagles will challenge sydney, who seem to be able to overcome the Eagles matchplay when it counts.

BTW it was funny hearing some of the ledgends of the game trying to get an enquiry into why victorian teams are not doing too well.

Personally I think more teams should be heaxding out of victoria - there isn't really enough money there to support half the competition is there?

Dead right Slick.

The Bulldogs did bloody well to make the finals in the first place, having lost their first tier ruckman in Luke Darcy before the season began, Robert Murphy (who was around career-best form) and a heap of others who would be selected in the best 22 without doubt.

The WCE finished on top while the Dogs finished 8th. The Dogs still have a way to go, but at least they've laid a foundation and also won a final V Collingwood.

If you want disgrace, look at Geelong. Full list for part of the season, still lost.

The Dogs deserve applause. Provided the list is available, they can look forward to next year.

The four clubs that were earmarked as potentially "troubled" were Carlton, Melbourne, Kangaroos and the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs are picking up and reached a record membership so they are improving, while I reckon Carlton will pick up once they remember how to play (once their list develops). Melbourne and the Kangaroos are two clubs that are not viable -->especially the Kangaroos. They have to go (sorry about that).

Fitzroy received no direct contribution of the club for being poor and Geelong didn't exactly get a hand from the AFL when they owed 7 million dollars.

I don't think clubs should get squillions per year just for struggling financially. One day they have to realise that the business is simply not viable.

True they only lost to a team that could be described as having the yips in finals with the weight of the world against them a team that was nothing 8-9 weeks ago. And we wont bring up the walking wounded elimination final.

Memberships are a all time high, But money it's hard to feed so many mouths with only a couple of plates, You know someone is going to get scraps and eat with there fingers.

Thank you, No doubt injury's are a problem but all year we keeped adapting to it, But in the long run only a list of 24 26 at best is going to come back and get you when you can't have the rotation you wont.

Looks like a repeat of the 2005 Grand Final is on the cards.

I do not like Sydney much at all.

I have immense respect for the old Eagles teams...very professional. Michael Brennan, Ashleigh McIntosh, John Worsfold and Guy McKenna were a tight defense, Matera, Kemp, Turley (for a while), Mainwairing were a strong midfield while the forward line had Sumich, Langdon and Chris Lewis who were all dangerous on their day.
Utility players such as Tony Evans, Chris Waterman, Peter Wilson were also very handy. Evans killed Geelong in the Eagles two GF wins.
I'm a Geelong supporter and while the Eagles deserved to pump us by 80 points in 1994, Geelong's 1992 team was capable of winning the flag, but the Eagles outplayed us in the finals series without a doubt.

But I will say that Sydney deserve the flag this year a hell of a lot more than last year. Last year everything went their way. No injuries, lucky wins and the most boring game style ever. The Grand Final was shithouse. It was close, but **** football.

This year promises to be a far better spectacle as Sydney are more skilful than last year, while West Coast will surely have learned from their qualifying final loss two weeks ago.

Should be a great match.

Fremantle played quite well I think, considering that they have never reached that stage of the finals before. But the difference was Sydney had contributors all over the ground, whereas too many of the Docker's players were ineffective. Pavlich, Bell, Sandilands and John Carr were once again standouts for the Dockers.

I think Fremantle were never going to win this year once they lost in week I. For them, the biggest challenge will be to replicate their performance, as Fremantle have shown to be historically mentally weak and inconsistent.

If their culture changes, they may be a real danger to the premiership aspirations of other clubs.

Sydney should win this back to back, But yeah I went to the game and was happy with the way freo played things just went their way and obviously played better, thought we had a good turn out in support from perth and the sydney fans are probably the nicest fans I've encounted with and wish them all the luck, and more games should be played at telstra stadium, very good venue.

I'd say not. Yesterdays game between the crows and the eagles was a gem! That should've been the grand final (except with the crows winning) i reckon. Not gonna watch the grand final this year. Will be boring like last year's.

Sydney has played a far better brand this year. Although similar, they've become a little more attacking.

I don't mind if Sydney win the Grand Final. Just as long as the game is of a higher standard than last year.

The '89 Grand Final shows that two teams can kick 21 goals each, and the match still be close.

2002 was also a great Grand Final. Although it rained like hell, the game was close, the standard was still better than last year's GF and the result wasn't determined until the last minute when Aker snapped the goal.

I feel Sydney may be the better team at the moment to win the Grand final, but West Coast Eagles have been the "come back kings" this year, so it might be a real good one.
