Tell that to the 102 people who died and their families.

We've not looked at any graphs for a little while so here are a couple.
First up the new cases by Continent which shows Europe as being fairly steady, Africa slowly increasing and South America / Asia increasing at a faster rate. The global new case trend continues to rise: .. as does the death rate:

with all the political rhetoric from both side's,
probably the very few time you have responded to someone without posting the virus toll.. we had two come from England whom tested positive.

Have a look at the middle top graph in this link. I think in anyone's language, that would be considered a 'wave'.
Copy of graph: Perhaps the peak is not as high as some may have been expecting, but that is still a wave.

Meanwhile back in China, it is hard to know if there is a "mutant C19" strain doing the rounds in Beijing or not. Personally I give the CCP and their media zero credibility and this new mutant strain may well be another deflection.
On a plus side, much of the globe has travel restrictions and mandatory isolation, therefore if there is a new mutant it should be better controlled than the original C19. Hopefully, it can stay in China! |

With the border in SA opening to all states from July 20th, I was wondering how that works for those entering Vic/NSW?
Im planning on going camping with some mates to Big Desert Camping ground in Vic that in close to the SA/VIC border on the 30th July, but then come home on the 2nd August. I live in SA so leaving the state isnt a problem. entering Vic could be though? How do the borders work in this regards? Can some explain to me please?

23 new cases for Australia (mostly Victoria) and no deaths so CMR drops to 1.384% but active cases rise to 409 (5.5%).
No new cases or deaths for NZ so CMR is 1.462% and active cases at 2. The UK had 1,115 new cases and 184 deaths so the CMR is up to 14.086%. Just over 25k new cases in the USA yesterday and 849 deaths sees CMR down to 5.394% and active cases drop to 53.7% although the raw numbers are rising again. Other notable points: The USA completes 26M tests, the UK 7M, India 6M and Germany 5M; Germany recorded the highest daily total in 8 weeks; Asia recorded a new daily high for new cases with 41,744; Palestine (41), Kenya (184), Israel (288), Ivory Coast (384), Nepal (586), Iraq (1,554), Bangladesh (4,008), Saudi Arabia (4,919) and India (13,103) all recorded new daily highs, those in blue for the second consecutive day and those in red for a third or more consecutive day.

It's still been inconsistently bad frankly. Only 6 of the last 20 days have been under 20k new cases and 3 have been over 30k including their highest yet. Their mortality rate 28 per 100k although that's about equal with Peru.

SA’s border to Victoria is still officially controlled ( except for some special reasons ). Otherwise you’ll need to self isolate in SA for 14 days.
Check the details with the SA Gov website The borders of SA to the NT and WA are open. |

Yes currently they are like that. But those self isolation rules will go on July 20th for entry to SA.

Ridiculous...
I ring Wirrarri Visitor Information Centre (yes they're only doing her job). Q. I want to go across the Simpson Desert. A. Sorry the Borders are closed, but you can go as far as Poeppel’s Corner (where Qld, NT, and SA intersect.) Q. Just to be clear, I'd be using the QAA track which crosses from Qld into NT and then south along the K1 track which crosses from NT into SA before I end up at the Corner A. Yes, that is perfectly OK - but you can not go any further than the corner, because the borders are closed |

I'm guessing if you're quoting numbers, you understand the difference between a CR and an IFR? 0.3% is IFR. The IFR for influenza is significantly lower than 0.3%.

If it was “Open slather” (all along), we could compare the deaths from different diseases (and say “blah, blah” is just like “what it’s name”), but it wasn’t “Open slather”, and so we can’t. |

Imagine someone said last August...
''A virus will be released (just like every other election year) that will send the world and all of Australia into lock down, and fighting over toilet paper'' They would have been laughed out of town. Last edited by CoupeKing; 19-06-2020 at 12:09 AM. |
