There's a thought. What will happen to all of the body manufacturing gear at Ford and Holden? Maybe there will be a Chinese-made copy? they did it with MG....

Highly unlikely Ford will sell its IP and other rights to the cars, badges etc.

I reckon it will be all toast, other than plenty of the standard gear. Basically a repeat of the Mitsubishi closure.

Ford may send some of the equipment to Thailand.
Alot of it would be old and well worn though you would think.

Someone will go through the joint after it closes to asses what can be sold and what will be scrapped (just like they did with FPV). Not sure how they will go about selling stuff but I would think they would use an auction company and do it in one big hit.

Let's do an AFF group buy of the Broadmeadows factory and Geelong engine plant. Then, all the Falcon wish-list threads can come true and we can all stop whinging!
Happy days! |

That's one of the best things I've read in a year. That has completely made my day.

I'm sure it is fairly common, but for someone who knows nothing about manufacturing and assembly robots, I was amazed to see how it all came together.

when they stripped out part of AMO last year Grays Auctions had an on-site viewing so I'd expect similar.

If you Google search the Mitsubishi shutdown you will see the process they used, expect similar.

Like fighting with your brothers and sisters about what you get in your parents wills'- while they're still alive.
I feel this thread has transcended into oblivion. Unsubscribed, but still very much looking forward to the last Falcon.
