They might. You can get the slide pin from Ford. Maybe that bit too. I didn't know about it before sourcing my brakes.

This is the Ebay "quick and easy" 330mm upgrade for the BA Caliper. Basically the same as a Terri upgrade except it uses an external bracket instead of a change to the caliper. Not 100% convinced its strong enough but apparently its pretty common (so says sbutler and racebrakes).

Am I reading the above posts correctly, in that Territory/BF calipers are esentially the same as BA/AU2-3 with slight mounting differences?

I was always under the impression that the calipers were much larger? Looking at mine against the standard S3 ones on the car at the moment, they do look a fair bit bigger, but it is a bit difficult to compare through the wheels.

If the pad sizes are essentially the same, is the only reason for the upgrade to gain the correct mounts to fit over the larger discs?

BF XR6T/XR8/Territory/BA are all basically the same caliper.. just with a different mounts. AU2/3 have different shaped pad's, but I'm not sure how close the rest of the caliper is.

Territory mounts are useless on Falcon's anyway.. If you have 322mm Front discs you need BF XR mounts or if you have BA Discs you need BA mounts.

Apparently not. I just went to put the rear BA brakes on my AU IRS setup today and guess what? 3mm spacing issue.

Lol, I went through the same thing Shane. In the end, I decided the BA callipers were in better condition than the AU ones, so a 3mm spacer it was. Must be the IRS rear end is just slightly different.

How have you found the fronts (besides looking behind the wheels and there they are)?

Apart from a fresh coat of paint and a slightly bigger rotor the BA setup was in no better condition than my AU ones (even the pads were the same thickness) so I just didnt want to stuff around with them. I'll give them a clean and a coat of paint one of these days (soonish) just to bling them up a bit and match them to the fronts when they get done.

I havent tried to change them over yet as doing it on the garage floor doesnt seem to be a lot of fun (or particularly safe crawling under a car only held by jack stands).
I have had a look under there today just to see where the brackets for the sway bar go (needs some more holes drilled and threaded by the looks) and I quickly came to the conclusion its not a 1 person job, I dont have the tools and I dont have the knowledge to do the changeover anyhow. I'll leave it to either the pro's or to someone who has done it before and knows what they are doing. I'll happily help but I'm not feeling that confident to do it myself. I dont want the front end collapsing on me due to a mistake on my behalf. Just not something I will risk.

Oh, apparently for us series 1 owners, we can upgrade our master cylinder to a station wagon one for a slightly better increase in pedal feel.

The station wagon master cylinder is a bit bigger than the sedan one. It'll go in a lot easier than a series 2 one which requires some major work.

Have finally fitted the BF Turbo brakes.. Needed a 2mm spacer for the rear calipers (this is on an AU2 XR6HP), otherwise all went on well.

Very impressed with them so far..

I'm running BA dimpled and slotted rotors on my AU2 with the BA calipers and EBC red pads...

Highly recommend upgrading...It's amazing the difference..

does anyone no if commodore calipers ie:VZ or VE calipers are the same as BA/BF? there very similar and i think you can buy them cheaper 2nd hand than ford ones?

I don't know if they are similar, but I know some shops have been using VE calipers in kits they have made up. Best ring PBR and find out what is the same.

does anyone no if there is any size differance in the rears on a BA/BF wgn or ute to i suppose.... compared to a AUIII..ive scored some fronts and now looking at doing the rears as well....

AU rears are the same size as the fronts (287mm I think), BA rears are 303mm.

I just had mine done today, BA front and rears.

Casper you are correct. The rotor diameter of the AU2/3 rear rotor is 287mm, overall height is 51mm and original thickness is 16mm. The BA rear rotor measures in at 303mm diameter, 50mm height, and 16mm thickness

I'll certainly be looking into this too. Even though the new brakes are clearly far, FAR superior to the old AU1 shockers the pedal feel is pretty wooden and the travel length is a bit of a change for me. Its not bad or dangerous, just not as comforting as a nice firm pedal.

Damn mate, I'm not liking your post at all! I actually bought Terri calipers front and rear a few months back, so looks like I'm stuffed. Strangely though, the brake shop I'm using assures me they've done this before and they will fit. I'm sceptical, but I'll book it in and see what happens. Will update you all probably in the next month or so.

Braided all the way around is definitely the way to go. I have it on my XR and it is so much better than the stock feel with the rubber hoses.

Yeah we tried Territory front calipers and they definitely didn't fit an AU2.

AU Hubs are fine.. IIRC from the parts book they AU-BF and Territory hubs are the same anyway.

Its been asked but i cant find it What exactly would i need as in parts to upgrade my AU1 Brakes to at least 330mm rotors.

Stub axles
calipers,
discs,
EB Sway bar (and the pins/bushes for it).

Is that what i need? also why the ED sway bar, I already have a white line one on my cant i just use that?

Hey Guys, just finished reading this thread start to finish, quite the information overload!

I'm looking to upgrade the brakes on my A1 ute, i've found a wreckers selling the conversion to AU2 specs -- lower control arms, uprights, stub axles and swaybar for $250 i think this is pretty reasonable price.
I was then thinking of putting on this brake kit from ebay HERE

What do you guys think? any suggestions?
