Problem with you lot is you relate the two all the time.
You have a choice, plenty of places to live in with less socialism that you could move to. I like it here and don't bow to nth degree capitalism you'd get if you removed all government oversight, protections, infrastructure etc.

Government regulations prevent capitalism running out of control, so a balance with socialism is good, so socialism is not a evil word IMO.

Without government intervention you'd all be out of a job, if everything was privatised capitalism to the nth degree where's the profit in a defence force anyway? Plus many jobs moved overseas and say hello to your new king Xi Jinping because China has a cheap labour force and lots of cheap goods that capitalists just love.
You can see a ? after communist - not saying you were.
Agreed they are dictatorships.
As for "you lot", no I don't relate both together, I posted the diff in my previous post correctly re read.
Overall by your above post we have similar POV's in that case.
I don't wish for the Gov to sell out completely to private companies etc for yes all would get out of hand, trouble is they have sold alot hence the issues were dealing with day to day living nowadays.
I sure wished that our Gov kept many untilities under their control.
I recall the days well but the almighty $ rules, our country developed quickly compared to many in the past and now were in the poop so to speak.
If you have reviewed my earlier posts or maybe its another thread, despite biting my own hand I deal alot with China with my business interests and at the same time damn annoyed its all come to this BUT the general consumer today and back further wants the lot for less as well.
People whinge whats going on BUT do they change their buying habits ? not that I can see.
Its a viscious circle mate more like a whirlpool.
In finishing socialism is not a dirty word as long as Labour isn't in gov more than 1-2terms

I'll bet they are loving making an example out of an australian.

They have already complained about us "interfering in the chinese legal system", by trying to get a lawyer to see her, which she hasn't been able to do in the 6 months or so since she has been arrested

yer I understood elsewhere Embassy officials have seen once or twice only.
Imagine 6mths - originally just disappeared from the face of the earht, all her media was wiped out, all her family more so her kid here - imagine what was going through their minds.
She is probably being set up by the CCP.

The Quad is gathering momentum to push against China even under a new US administration. So far Biden is not being soft on this.

When these CCP "fishing" vessels harass our navies in international waters then turn them into target practice. No BS.

If some of our "allies" want to play mouse that is OK so long as they don't undermine those willing to do the heavy lifting.

Our laws allow it but its hard to say every deal with China is sinister.
That said, WA has a similar 'story' ... complete with airstrip.
