Johns video has been viewed nearly 150 000 times and has over 3000 likes......when it comes to public relations he'd be their worse nightmare until its fixed. His video would have been watched FORD by management and they wouldn't be happy.

JC doesn't phase me at all, he certainly has gotten under some blokes skin though. Like him/hate him - wtf cares. I've got to give it to the bloke, he's got a skin thicker than a buffalo, he simply does not care what people think. |

John Bowe comments from facebook regard Mustang crash test.
There's a bit of misinformation getting around in social media land regarding the Mustang Euro NCAP testing, plus a few of you have asked my opinion here on Facebook. I'm not a spokesperson for Ford, but I do understand the business well enough to answer/respond to the question. So here goes. Firstly, testing is not mandatory. In fact, the researchers among you might like to compile a list of cars that have NOT been tested. You'll be surprised! Expensive Euro sports cars would dominate the list. But does that mean they're not safe?? No, not in the slightest. Generally, the more expensive the vehicle, the less likely they are to be tested. Getting back to the Mustang test, with the new testing regulations introduced only recently, there are 4 categories that are somewhat skewed towards family passenger/SUV cars. One of the categories is Driver Safety Assist. This is where the Mustang scored a 2 rating. In the other 3 categories Mustang scored up to 5 (out of 5). So you see, it's dangerous to look at part of the result in isolation (or believe the news headlines only). You need to know the whole story. The Mustang does not have Lane Departure Warning, nor Auto Emergency Braking, two of the components on the checklist in the 'Safety Assist' category. Hence the rating of 2 stars for Active Safety Assist. The 2 star result in this category determined the overall rating. The Ford Mustang is the first car of its type (that is, it’s the first sports car) to be tested to the new regulations. There are plenty of expensive sports cars coming out of Europe that also don’t have features like Auto Emergency Braking and Lane Departure Warning. I've read balanced reports and also read some very unbalanced/biased reports, plus I've driven quite a lot of Mustangs since their release, and was even at Sandown just last Saturday with over 30 Mustang owners. After all of that there is no question in my mind whether the Mustang drives, stops and handles really well. Would I buy one based on what we all know? I most certainly would! If you were planning to buy one, go for it. The feedback from owners I've met is that the Mustang is well beyond their expectations. I hope that clears it up! Cheers JB. If I had the money ,I would still buy the new Mustang. |

Oh he cares all right, as soon as you point out his obvious failings in his 'reports' he blocks you. Doesn't even try and explain his side or anything.

Sometimes people just don't give feedback - one of my videos about a magnetic stirrer has 1800 views but just 7 "thumbs up" and 1 "thumb down". People watched it but for whatever reason they didn't feel the need to give me any feedback. I think only one person commented as well. The "likes" system is not really a measure of anything. |

Your more deluded than the man himself if you think Ford are going to be worried by some two bit wannabe youtube sensation in his own mind, profanity throwing twit from some southern hemisphere backwater that takes less Mustangs in year than what the US moves in a month

Isn't that the whole point of the ratings - to compare? ANCAP test the vehicle and compare it to the criteria to award a rating and then buyers can compare the ratings of cars they're considering to buy. If Mustang had of got 4 or 5 Stars we probably would have just thought that's great and move on. It didn't, it got 2 Stars; as a Mustang owner of course I'm concerned. After reading a couple of articles and then listening to Cadogan the engineer in me decided to look into it and see if Mustang is really as bad as they're making out. The answer is no, it isn't. In crash scenarios it performed pretty well. Despite the delay in full airbag deployment, based on COMPARING the data, I have a lot less chance of a head injury in a Mustang compared to a large number of cars. But, you don't read sensation making headlines for these other cars. The airbag deployment is an interesting one - Volvo had a problem with Euro-NCAP testing for its XC90. It worked to resolve the problem and issued a recall for cars made early in the production run. I would hope Ford do fix this one - it's probably a minor fix. As for Cadogan, Ford management at a very high level are aware of him. Best thing to do is ignore him for the grub that he is and use the ANCAP results to improve the car.

End of the day it's 2 stars, the masses will not look beyond that as to why. The Mustang will end up with a 5 star rating and the world moves on.
'Grub' is a bit harsh isn't it? |

Nope.
Watching him rave about the GT and showing how it did good skids to then going off on his rant about Focus, it's drift mode and how it would kill harmless poodles was enough for me. Hippocrite/grub. It's the same thing. The grub needs a gearbox - allegedly.

The whole point of the new 2017 rating is that it is raising the bar so it is much harder to get 5 stars.
Pre 2017 just about all cars are 5 star so the rating was becoming pointless. As others have said, they should have added extra stars ie. 6, 7, 8, stars. That way older ratings still have some meaning with the new one. |

The only thing I've ever seen Cadogan recommend buying is a Corolla and i30.
Does ANYONE give him cars to test drive? He just looks at some websites then posts a rant. |

He's also got a weekly spot on a afternoon radio talk show. Continued his tirade on the Mustang there last week. The clueless host was asking him where should owners return their Mustangs for refund.....

The bloke is a foul mouthed looser, he doesn't even test drive anything and I bet couldn't tell a spark plug from horse. I try my best not to watch any of his dribble because I don't want him making a cent off me.

If he has a gripe with the fine people of this forum, then he should man up and become a member with his real name, and let us know his problem.

.....man up and tell us his problem. Mate the bloke doesn't care. He simply does not care. Have a look at the comments on his channel - he's a hated man by many but he keeps 'stirring the pot' - he loves it. The more blokes that get annoyed the happier he is.

He is basically the automotive equivalent to a shock jock, any publicity is good publicity. People take notice for the same reasons they listen to the shock jock,or listen to ex footballers who endorse financial products. Now exactly what the actual reason people do it escapes me,I'm not really interested, but plenty of punters love this crap. I'm sure the large companies have strategies and marketing tactics to manage the likes of him. I get what you guys mean,he should man up and join the forum, but be careful what you wish for,it wouldn't be pretty. Just ignore him and enjoy the forum, why spin your wheels over something you cannot change? If a Mustang is your thing then enjoy,if he bags it big deal.

He'd love that, more free publicity...he could play the Richard Branson card...."all the big boys don't like me and it's not fair, see, they took me to court" they are trying to shut me up..I'm one man struggling within an opressive society.

I like the bloke. He doesn't annoy/offend/**ss me off in any way at all.
Some of what he says is gold, if he bags Fords/Mustangs etc etc who cares. The Mustang brand will benefit from all this exposure - it will be 5 stars in no time and the world will roll in a safer Stang. |
