Looks like a Ford and an Audi. Can't help but like it..lol. Really goes to show how good the BA/BF restyling was/is. Well Done to Holden. Glad they haven't used the ZF auto however.

http://us.tnpv.net/2006/GMC200607/GM...1551534_PV.jpg

Hmm says trip distance 3.38Km, fuel used 5.87 litres
so thats 157 litres per 100km, they must be alittle heavier....

I'll have to say it - well done Holden! Great styling, big differentiation between different spec models!!(is ford listening), lovely lines, very euro - aggressive but elegant...

3 things for me though: Don't like the coloured dash on the SS, whats build quality going to be like, and how will it perform on the road. Apart from that the car looks great. I wonder how many members on this forum will buy one of these. A few it looks like.

Ford better get their bum into gear (hopefully a standard 6sp lol) for next Falcon.

Even if the VE has borrowed themes from Audi neither Ford or Holden will EVER be able to build a car as solid or reliable as the crazy Germans. Even a base model A4 is built like a vault. You open the boot and the doors and it looks like it has been carved from a solid piece of stone - no shut lines and no weld marks to be seen anywhere. Even the smallest tray is spring loaded and made from high quality plastics. These guys are so pedantic about the smallest details that they even setup something called the 'haptics team'. This teams job is to analyse the sound and feeling of a particular component and ensure that it makes the right sounds and reaffirms a certain feeling to the occupants. Believe me mate, Audi is in a league of its own..

Just saw it on the News. Looks good but the media just focused on the fact that this all new model has been released with no improvement in fuel economy and is heavier than the last model. They followed that story with Toyota's all new 'economical' family 6 model also launched today at the Football.

This will be interesting.

i saw that too and it was typical of the media slagging bigger cars........ they said there has been no improvement to fuel economy but power has been raised...... i see that as a good thing........more power using the same amount of fuel as before

Point taken, but it was only a reference to appearance. Somehow I don't think build quality that rivals Audi will be on the agenda for Ford or Holden, considering they build to sell to the masses.

The one thing Holden have had on Ford is their breadth of trip computer functions and customisation. I am glad they didn't follow Ford down the ICC path and limit the amount of information that can be displayed at anyone time. The body computer in the Holden’s seems to have the edge on us so I guess the new model hasn't lost that touch. The new presentation is very Audi like and a huge improvement over the glow glow, look at me presentation of the previous models.

VE is pretty much as we all suspected.

Calais V and Caprice look the nicest IMHO. Calais looks very BA ish. Inside and out. Clean technical lines through out its design.

Calais gets a 5th headrest!

Ford should look at upgrading its ICC unit, maybe a sexier dash for BFII to go along with the sheet metal changes.

Have to say i'm impressed and don't really want to say it but it's a very likable car.

The Calais and Caprice look very smooth and comfortable and "expensive" and SS looks very sporty and has a lot of potential, looks kinda like a skyline. Not a great fan of the Caprice, not as nice as the VZ model but the interior is very nice.

Love the Caprice though, the LTD cars will no doubt obliterate the fairlane

WOW!!!!

Gorgous, gorgeous, gorgeous!

My only gripe would be that from some angles, SSv looks a little tall. But thats it. Inside looks euro as any other real euro, outside looks very appealing.

Orion really couldn't come sooner. It's gonna be a long year and a half..

Checking out the Caprice.

Jesus, Ford might as well put a bullet in the 'lane and LTD right now and save embrassement.

Bose audio, a roof console for rear passengers to control lighting, volume etc, TFT in head rests, loads of leg room, enormous doors, huge windows. Xenons, 270kw V8, quad pipes, front and rear park assist, LED indicators on vent and led rear lighting.. Are those 18" wheels?

Christ!

For those who missed the live stream this morning, drive.com.au have the shorts for each release here:

http://drive.com.au/Editorial/Articl...?categoryID=55

They are only very short clips that have been scaled down from this mornings release.

Interesting that they said that fuel economy will be no better, and it will be heavier. Seems Holden didn't want to admit fuel economy will be worse. They did everything they could to avoid mentioning that.

380 steering wheel and rear end, Astra front. Same crappy 4 speed auto and only 180kw. Heavier weight will mean the extra 10kw of the V8 won't improve performance. Where's the giant leap forward. Holden avoided showing the base models because they will look very bland indeed. Interior was the only area they have really advanced, but prices will be at least $2000 more for every model so the buyers will pay for it. The Orion will be more than a match, if it wasn't for the release of the Territory, Ford would be pretty close to releasing it now. Too bad its at least another 18 months away.

No suprise to see Holdens b*tch Paul Gover on TV praising it at the launch. He must live a good life on all the kickbacks he gets from them.

Caprice was the only model I thought looked pretty good, way better than Statesman with that dodgy Cadillac grille.

Ford should make the ZF 6 speed standard in BF XR6 MkII & above. Make the ZF6 speed a $1000 option on the XT they would still be cheaper for the punters & the fleets than what the VE will be. Better on fuel & more power than the base model VE & have two extra gears that has to be a selling point.

Actually I think one comment suggested that they were still testing it?? Really !!

Is there a close up picture of that SS dash that shows what the top centre screen is displaying?

Looked at it from a distance on the side profile...

It actually looks like a bigger version of the M3...

I dont like how the rear sits high though...

Does anyone else think the SS Wheels look a bit too um plain??

I do love the Dash of the Caprice though

Not a fan of the Red SS Dash though...too um try hard for me

LS1.com.au is soooo slow to access at the moment lol
