i was also shocked to see only ~40% of confiscated vehicles were P-platers.. and all this hype about p-paters being the ones doing wrong

I work with a young guy (on his Ps, about 17 years old), I'm only 18 mind you.
He just borrowed money from his parents to buy a VY commodore executive.
IIRC it cost him ~$10 000 and he borrowed around $8k from his folks. He proudly told me of how he booked it into the mechanic the day he got it because it needed new brake rotors and pads, the steering "needed to be fixed" and "there was something wrong with the transmission".
It ended up costing him over $1000 to have the work done. (not sure of the exact figure but it was well over 1k)

I told him that he shouldn't have bought the car for that much but he refused to look at any fords because they "feel cheap, look cheap and aren't as good as a Holden."
He also went on to say how his engine was bigger than mine (3.8L V6 is apparently > than a 4.0L I6).

Some people just can't be told. LOL, now THAT was an epic fail.

Yes, professor evans, that is a story often told. I'm not quite sure where they get as misinformed as they do.

Reminds me of this guy I know who tried to tell me that Holden invented EFI...and that they developed the V6 for Buick, and that it's smoother than than a straight-six configuration. This guy was a diesel mechanic...supposed to know stuff about cars, apparently not.

VY executive...quite possibly the worst Commodore ever made. Weird looking, poorly made and super sluggish. An old flog bomb EB would beat it in a 0-100. Not hard to see why the BA was such a success.

they are in china - they possibly do not even know what the stickers mean. they may have just seen a kitten with an asian looking figure and liked it

at the very least, it is different, but then again we live in a comforming society, so they should be burnt at the stake for trying something - i assume being different was frowned upon by the masses years ago too. luckily the individuals didn't take it to heart or else we would not have hot rods or many other choices we take for granted nowadays

If he doesn't make too many dumb posts he will come to understand the error in his ways here.

They will all move on to Fords since that is Holdens main competitor.

Its not the car, its the idiots who buy them. Not sure why they are attracted to Holdens though.
Cheap-ish? Fast-ish? Australian-ish?

I like some Holdens, but wouldn't own one since I do not want to be stereotyped like that.

I would gladly and proudly own a HZ Premier...but wouldn't go anywhere near a post-1980 Holden.

Yeah fair enough.
A real enthusiast would buy an old car. All the people hooning around in commodores and other more modern cars are not enthusiast, they just think they are being fully sick and hectic.

Anyone who drives around all the time with massive rims on the front and stockies on the back is basically shouting "LOOK AT ME I'M A ******"
These people are the true automotive fails which should be featuring in this thread.

You don't have to buy old cars to be an enthusiast.

There are two sides to your comment, one is correct and one isn't.

The first is your opinion and the second is the truth.
