I though it might be pertinent to have a look at how long it has been since various countries had their peak daily case numbers. To even out any reporting spikes, I've ignored data that is clearly an adjustment to totals or a catch-up. The figure in brackets is the current 3 day average.
> 31 DAYS Italy - 100 days since a peak of 6,557 (128); Australia - 99 days since a peak of 537 (57.3); Germany - 94 days since a peak of 6,933 (331); Spain - 89 days since a peak of 7,947 (355); France - 86 days since a peak of 6,559 (441); UK - 84 days since a peak of 5,903 (868); Turkey - 79 days since a peak of 5,138 (1,367); Russia - 49 days since a peak of 11,656 (6,787); Senegal - 49 days since a peak of 177 (114); Kuwait - 41 days since a peak of 1,073 (607); UAE - 40 days since a peak of 941 (424); 15 - 30 DAYS Qatar - 30 days since a peak of 2,355 (774); Peru - 29 days since a peak of 8,805 (3,333); Iran - 25 days since a peak of 3,754 (2,493); Afghanistan - 24 days since a peak of 915 (262); 8 - 15 DAYS Chile - 15 days since a peak of 8,120 (4,213); Ghana - 15 days since a peak of 846 (505); Pakistan - 15 days since a peak of 6,825 (3,589); Bahrain - 14 days since a peak of 786 (478); Saudi Arabia - 12 days since a peak of 4,919 (3,953); Moldova - 12 days since a peak of 478 (194) Sweden - 11 days since a peak of 1,560 (498); Nepal - 11 days since a peak of 671 (497); Ivory Coast - 10 days since a peak of 430 (158); Egypt - 10 days since a peak of 1,774 (1,333); Brazil - 10 days since a peak of 55,209 (29,010) Ethiopia - 9 days since a peak of 399 (140); Dominican Republic - 8 days since a peak of 899 (684); < 7 DAYS Oman - 7 days since a peak of 1,605 (1,008); Philippines - 6 days since a peak of 1,143 (788); Mexico - 5 days since a peak of 6,288 (4,633); Azerbaijan - 5 days since a peak of 590 (533); Mauritania - 5 days since a peak of 227 (110); Morocco - 4 days since a peak of 563 (219) Armenia - 4 days since a peak of 771 (626); Iraq - 4 days since a peak of 2,437 (2,016); Uzbekistan - 4 days since a peak of 276 (265); Ukraine - 3 days since a peak of 1,109 (837); USA - 3 days since a peak of 48,008 (40,818); Guatemala - 3 days since a peak of 800 (437); Indonesia - 2 days since a peak of 1,385 (1,221); South Africa - 2 days since a peak of 7,210 (6,554); Nigeria - 2 days since a peak of 779 (611) Kazakhstan - 2 days since a peak of 569 (525); Kyrgyzstan - 2 days since a peak of 309 (271); Kenya - 2 days since a peak of 278 (219); Palestine - 2 days since a peak of 258 (209); India - 2 days since a peak of 20,131 (19,363); Liberia - 2 days since a peak of 45 (29); Algeria - 1 day since a peak of 305 (295) El Salvador, Panama, Honduras, Bangladesh, Israel - all zero days since their peak.

Agreed. Lock the Melburnians in, and keep it away from here, so we can drop some of the unnecessary restrictions we have for areas which are pretty much corona virus free.

Of course they'll handball it to someone else down the line. I think that they should look at locking down hotspots but allow regional Victoria to run business as usual, their cafes/pubs/restaurants business as usual. Security on entry - people from within the region are allowed in, people from Melbourne and surrounding region refused entry. That way regional VIC can start firing up where they have no cases. |

10 suburbs in Melbourne in lockdowm. Only four reasons to be out of your home (in brief):
1. Work 2. Care giving 3. Exercise 4. Food and essential supplies. Booze bus style checks on major roads checking as to why people are leaving their suburb. Postcodes where restrictions will apply: 3012 3021 3032 3038 3042 3046 3047 3055 3060 3064

Flights diverted from Melbourne
Mr Andrews said he would ask the Prime Minister to divert all flights away from Melbourne for the next two weeks. "I will have conversations with other state leaders to explain that and to thank them in advance of the extra load that they will carry," he said. "That is for the abundance of caution."

Just read that in a few Melb hotspots, 928 people refused to be tested when asked to take it.
I mean seriously.............talk about having no regard for the health and safety of others in the Community. Ridiculous. |

Big nuts to lock down suburbs, that seals the deal for us going down. We were not going into those exact postcodes but close enough.

Christmas Island is a bust as far as been used for quarantining as they do not have the medical facilities to cope, the head of the Australian Medical Association Tony Bartone has already stated "Christmas Island lacks the facilities if someone should fall seriously ill", i've been there on a number of occasions and they definitely wouldn't cope.....

Depends how you measure it but from when it almost stopped until it properly restarted was 38 days or 22 days from the last reported case to the next one.

I work in one of those lockdown suburbs, they're talking about police pulling people over to ask where they're going and having booze bus style checkpoints on major roads in those suburbs.
Well that'll keep the commute interesting |
