I gotta agree with the E-Cigs. A smoker for 33yrs the last 2 yrs well over 60+ darts a day. I have tried near every method to quit, staple in the ear, hypno, champix, cold turkey, gum, accupuncture, patches you name it. I never lasted more than 2 weeks.

I had been on and off the vaping for 2 years, and then a friend put me onto the BEST e-juice I'd ever had, finding a good e-juice was the key for me anyhows.

I have now been stinkie free for 137 days and saved $6k, and gone from 12mg Nicotene down to 1.5mg soon to cut that in half again. Once I'm on zero nic for a month I will hang the vape up aswell.

Its been a battle to get the good wife to convert but she is starting now, I just had to get the right flavour and the right vape instrument that worked for her.

For the wife & I Vape Wild e-juice is where its at from America, well over 150 flavours inc tobacco which i use sometimes if I get a bad craving, which is very rare now.

I started with a pen style unit (5w-50w) as is my wife, but now I use a 2 battery mod and vape at 185w, the more cloud I make the more value for money compared to the pittance amount of smoke from a ciggy. And at $3 a day....

A recent survey from the FDA now showing that vaping is 95% healthier for you and allows your body to start recovering. As for Popcorn lung supposedly caused from vaping.....its a myth. Microwave popcorn factory workers inhaling the powdered butter suffer from this not vapers.

I now liken smoking to being a junkie, you live for that next hit, I was putting bills off just to buy ciggies. Xmas just gone is the first time I dont have bills overdue and money in the bank. I just spent$2k getting a diff updade done on my S/c GS, with mods to start now I can afford it.

I wont lie in the beginning you still get craving but no where near as bad as the other methods. Just chain vape for a few mins and the craving is gone.

Here's to being healthier and wealthier

A bit over three months now.
A change of job did it for me, I rarely smoked at home, too many other interests but it in civil construction, operating open machines it was easy to sit there charfing away on durries all day.
Back to the golf courses now, keeping my hands and mind busy, that and its just not acceptable to be smoking somewhere like that nowadays.
It's been a good change, happier in my work and happier not smoking.

Worked for me for A while but I really didn't consider it giving up, just moving up to something else.
Anyway I couldn't stop coughing where normally I don't cough on the darts.
Coughing up clear phlegm after every session on the vape.

Nothing wrong with importing juice with nicotine. I know at least a dozen afp agents who do it. Might not be legal in qld tho. Not 100% on that.

Had a chat with the doc and he advised getting back onto tailor mades if I'm going to smoke.
Definitely stay away from rollies.

Funny thing is, I've been taking a drug called fentanyl for 25 years. It's 1000 times more potent than heroin yet I could happily give that up any day I liked.
According to my professor my body should be badly addicted yet it's the opposite for me.

I don't import the nicotine... I get it on a doctor's prescription dispensed through a local Pharmacy, all done locally online, pure pharmaceutical quality and much cheaper

I didn't think docs would write scripts.....there ya go.

Are you vaping the unflavoured stuff?

I found a rum and lime one I liked. Was going to try more of the alcohol flavours.
Not to be now.

To obtain the Nicotine liquid legally without having to import it yourself and going through the hassle of customs is very easy....

Simply go to a site called "NicoPharm", which is in Australia;

https://www.nicopharm.com.au

You then fill in an online questionnaire, with health details, etc and give your Medicare card details as payment (they bulk bill) for an online consultation with a doctor on the site (takes all of 10 minutes).
You only have to do this once, and once the doctor approves you for Nicotine Liquid it stays on file forever... It's like a presciption with unlimited repeats.

You then get a password to the site and can go to the site as often as you like and place an order for as many bottles of Nicotine Liquid you need (cheaper in bulk).

You also get to choose the Nicotine strength you would prefer.
(I normally buy the 18mg strength and it comes in a 30ml bottle.)
Costs about $10 a bottle.
You can buy flavoured pre-mixed in dozens of flavours or unflavoured.

The doctor then writes a prescription for each order you place online and emails it to their Pharmacy.

Your order is then supplied to your door from the Pharmacy the next working day by Australia Post Express.

The bottles come with the Pharmacy label, address, and doctor's name... Just like prescription drugs you get at a chemist.

A 30ml bottle will last me around 10 days... so about $1 per day.

I prefer to buy my concentrate flavours separately and add it to the Nicotine liquid myself.
Currently, my favourite is the Coca-Cola flavour.

Ok. I knew about nicopharm, but I didn't realise they wrote the script.

When I see the doc next I'll ask him for a script for giggles.

Geez I was going through a 30ml bottle a month! 18mg.
Using a low power vape though with 2 ohm coils.

Yeah, I now have about 4 tanks, and 3 mods and keep a bunch of spare coils in stock.

I prefer the 1.8-ohm ones and normally vape at a low 8 watts.
Each BVC coil gets replaced every 2 weeks.

I might try building my own coils as well in the future.

I buy all my hardware from a local dedicated vaping store near me.

Haha you're hooked.

I reckon when you start building your own coils it gets serious.
I wouldn't have the patience. Easier to pull out the MasterCard.

Ah, I KNEW thered be other vapers on here. Was considering selling the XR8 and buying a toyota 86 when I couldnt find any like minded people.
As per thread, vapes are the way to go. I still "feel" like a dart sometimes, especially when Im drinking, but then I have a drag or two and it tastes like crap, and I go back to one of my many nicotine mixed, caramel, or fudge flavoured e-juices.
I smoked 20/day for about 10 years. Now rock about 120 puffs a day on my innokin, that I set up for mtl. Being a tradie, and usually not a spare moment to scratch myself, a tank was just the way to go.

Honestly, if you want to quit, the transition is totally seamless with the right beginners setup. Many people fail, and I did once, by having the wrong liquid. I found "smoothe tobacco" by VapeKing (sydney) to be very close to a higher end cig taste, but its still my go to. You find yourself wanting more vibrant flavours after a while, and belive it or not, caramel and fudge does get a bit too much after a while.

As for the nicotine, dont bother with the scripts, just buy it online from NZ or china. Buying juices from overseas, you can also get the nic mixed in, in a ready to vape mix.

I dont recommend this, well, I do, but dont blame me, but I actually put 5 drops of vodka in my tank last night to try to level out an overly thick juice and it increased the throat hit by about double. So if you want to kick nicotine, adding that MIGHT work. But again, try at your own peril, I cant imagine its good for you at all. You wont get a dart-like hit without nicotine. Even a high power RDA wont work, itll hurt, but not like a winnie blue.

Im gonna add to that aswell:
My main motivator for quitting was the $$$$.
A beginner setup will cost you $50 for the unit, a tank, and 2 coils. (Innokin T22)
They arent adjustable, and run a single battery, around 14w, one charge will get you about 300ish puffs. Micro usb to charge, so charging is really no problem, and very fast. My mrs tested it and hers ran for 3 days before running out of battery.
Work on using a coil every 2-3 weeks. Replacement ones are about $2 each.
Juice is VERY cheap. 120ml will last 3+months and cost around $30
Nicotine is very cheap also, but I recommend asking a friend to do the first couple of mixes for you. I met a guy who had only just started, and he told me he went 50/50 with a mix before doing research. Hes lucky he didnt die. Im about 4 months or so in and doing my first mix next week, but I have a mate whos big into it, so I bummed his nic for ages.

So what Im saying is, youve got endless darts for around $200/year.
And no coughing till you dry reach every morning.

What Jack + others have said. Been two years for me sometime this month and since I started vaping havn't touched a smoke. Actually since I got used to it I don't crave them at all.

The device you get and your mixture are super important!!. A family member set me up for almost the first year, cost me like $150 for 10 months. I found a better device - the Innokin Endura T22 that Jack mentioned, works a treat (there would be dozens that are better but it's a great starter kit).

I never smoked bubble gum so all my flavours have been variants of tobacco blends. ATM I'm buying from a shop near me the 'Oplus juice', It's $10 (12mg) for 10 mil and usually lasts 5-7 days - heaps cheaper online.

I recommend that if you take the plunge don't have ciggies laying around, just get used to it. Honestly to me it's 75% close to actual smoking - with patches and gum you get the nicotine hit but not the action/habit of vaping.

I got spares of everything now. I had my first Innokin die after about 14 months and couldn't get one until the next day. I live with smokers but I just dealt with it.

For those wanting to quit smoking and would like to try vaping as a healthier alternative, here is some of the hardware I recommend after much experimentation and trial and error.

First, you will need a handheld power supply, which is called a "mod" in the vaping world.
It contains the electronics, LCD screen and allows various adjustments to temperature, volts, ohm and wattage settings.
One with a 2000 mAh rechargeable inbuilt battery will allow a full day's vaping before needing to be recharged with the included wall charger.
Your "tanks" which hold the e-liquid and heating coil fits on top.
A good mod range is one that allows wattages up to around 75 watts to suit beginners all the way to seasoned vapers.

This is one I use and recommend and fits comfortably in the hand.
The Innokin Kroma 75W which retails for around $70.

A very good starter mod which is very compact and easier to fit in trouser pockets is the Soulblu Speedy 50W Mod Box.
This has a Built-in 1500mAh battery, and measures just 34 x 24 x 65mm.
They cost around $50.

I have a couple of these....

Next, you will need a "tank" which holds your e-liquid.
There are many to choose from, the key is finding one that won't leak, has good adjustable airflow, has a ready supply of spare parts such as the consumable heating coils, and gives consistent results.

Having a few tanks, allows you to have different flavours of e-liquid in each.
In one I might have Coca-Cola flavour, another Green Apple and another with Spearmint flavouring.

My main tank is the Aspire Nautilus tank, made from Pyrex glass and holds 5ml of e-liquid, which I use on the Innokin Kroma mod.
They fully disassemble to allow for proper cleaning.
Cost is around $29

I then use a couple of the smaller Aspire tanks, which hold about 2 ml of e-liquid, and cost around $26.
These are used with the smaller compact Soulblu Speedy 50W Mod Box.

Lastly, you will need some spare heating coils, which screw into the tanks and vapourise your e-liquid.
These are consumable items and usually last for 2 - 3 weeks (depending on the wattage you use). Cost is around $6 each.
I recommend the BVC 1.8 Ohm coils also made by Aspire...

One day I broke smoking down to what it is in its basic form. Inhaling toxic chemical laden smoke into your lungs and blowing it back out again. Imagine any industry that exposed its workers to something that intense, even by accident. The millions in compensation & the company would be closed. But, our Government is complicit in allowing business to use addictive drugs with hundreds of poisonous chemicals under the name of 'smoking' because they know people get hooked & they make billions of the tax. Obviously the collateral damage is insignificant enough compared to the profits for the Govt.

I kept coming back to this, and got massively pi***ed off for allowing myself to even consider smoking to begin with so I threw the packet away & never looked back. I don't believe in nicotine replacement therapy or vapour devices, just buy some candy or a tooth pick if you need a physical replacement. I gave up grog at the same time because they go hand in hand & a beer & a cigarette go together very well. Good luck to anybody who stops. Your life gets heaps better without it. The smell of passive smoke these days can make me physically sick on occasions, it is so disgusting to me now. I gave up grog & cigs in 2012 & have not looked back. The benefits just keep on coming & the cost these days, I prefer to spend the money on petrol. I will have a drink if I want to, but I haven't found any reason worthy enough to bother yet. A wedding or milestone birthday perhaps, but its got to be worthwhile.

I swapped ciggies for chewy, 3 years 11 months later I still have 1 chewy in the morning and 1 after lunch most days while at work. The 2 guys I work with are smokers, 1 lost his father in law 2 years ago to emphysema after spending his last few years with 20% lung capacity, even after sitting at his bedside for months while he died painfully wasn’t enough to inspire him or his wife to quit, and the other 1 is a kid, I’ve done my best to get him to stop but kids don’t listen, every now and then i’ll cop a face full of smoke off 1 of them, it doesn’t overly bother me but it does remind me how disgusting that sh*t is!

I've started buying fake, sorry 'replica' watches, one a month is a fraction of what I'd spend on smokes.
Still getting the cravings but I just roll up my flano and check out my pimpin' mother of pearl faced Rolex or McLaren F1 Tag Heuer for a couple of minutes and it passes. Works for me.

Great idea to reward yourself like that. Having something tangible to show for your effort is very powerful. Have a look at the vintage Seiko divers, models 6309-7040 & 6309-7290 models, if you like larger chunky watches. Full stainless bands available as well. Great watch which are gaining value & a beautiful automatic Japanese movement. Both mine are close to 50 years old and still function perfectly.

Its been a while since I stopped, I'm well past it now.
After buying a couple of fake watches to count time as the cravings passed I thought I'd treat myself to the real deal with all the money I've saved, its a Tag F1 Gulf edition.
Looks a hell of alot cooler driving my cars with this than a durrie hanging out of my mouth.

Ive spent exactly 66% of my life smoking

It didnt bother me until i had chest pains 6 weeks ago, and i stopped smoking immediately. Ive always been quite fit & felt invincible, but ive found a little scare is all you need to pull your head in and realize it aint hard to quit when you actually WANT to.

My advice to make quitting easier is trying switching to additive free and or organic tobacco (you'll go through mild withdrawals if you've been smoking regular commercial smokes).
Once you're comfortable with the additive free/organic stuff then give that up, much easier than going cold turkey off the regular fags.

Heard about the guy who gave up smoking, drinking and wild women?

Worst 20 minutes of his life...

I gave up smoking (after 20 years) in 1988.

As with most people I'd tried a few times without success until my daughter, aged 5, asked me if I was going to die (because of smoking).

Bugger it, didn't want my kids to be carrying the burden of my untimely demise so decided to give it away.

Soon after, fate stepped in and I was as in bed, sick as a dog with the flu, ran out of smokes and managed 24 hours without one.

One day became two days became a week and tough as it was I really didn't want to have to go through withdrawal again, so that was it.

Haven't had a smoke, the flu or even a head cold since...

Hope you're still quit

Assuming age around 40 plus or minus a little you'll probably save enough money to buy at least two decent and brand new cars over a lifetime...

Where’s your mind at? Are you struggling or are you finding it easy? What do you do when you think about having one?
Back when I was still counting days I used to remind myself that the only person I’d be cheating if I had one, was myself.

I'm fine. Every time I feel like a smoke I think of my father who has bladder cancer and the urge passes.
