I had A barn find today in Gulgong. It was a early 2000s Holden Astra. It was sitting in a front yard with grass growing around it, bits hanging off it and just a general terrible condition.
Also found a old truck, bus, datsun and something else. The astra was just not expected. |

I even buried an XY sedan with a D8 one afternoon on the insistence of the owner, it had the drive train out of it and had only done 43,ooo genuine miles. He didn't like the bit of cancer in the in the near side A & C pillars.

Found yhis XD Sundowner Panelvan in a local towing yard in amoungst all the wrecks I spotted the wheel and wanted them for my XC but after a bit of research I found that only 94 of these were made in the XD range and only a few of that 94 were plated as V8 as this one is so now it sits in my garage making my XC look great while waiting for time and funds to allow a rebuild.
How it looked in the yard; How it should look; And MY XC;

I think this might qualify for a find, I was talking to an aquaintance of mine the other day when I noticed a ute down the back, when I asked about it she told me it is a XK ute that was imported from the USA and she had owned it since she was 17 years old,I didn't want to ask her age but shes no spring chicken. anyway it is still licenced and runs but rarely gets driven other than to throw some hay out to the horses,so if anybody is interested send me a Pm and i'll see what I can do.

my neighbour has recently garaged his 68 xt, he brought it new, it's done the clock a few times & is in really good nick considering it was his daily driver up to 12 months ago, i've been on him for years about buying it if he ever sells but no good, he asked me what id do to it & i told him my plans for a ground up resto & leaving it original, apparently im the first one to say that as most wanted to boot the 6 for an 8 etc .. & he hated that.. he's hoping his son would take it but he has no room, time or money for it so mow it's in the back yard covered in a tarp... the old bloke just won't part with it & i can see that one day it will just rust away there never to be saved... i guess the strog sentimental value is just too great, i keep reminding him though that im interested...maybe one day i'll be lucky.

oh don't worry about that, im not giving up until i see someone else drive away with it lol, i've been at him for about 3 years now, so maybe one day i'll be right, & i don't need to wheel a clean one to his place to show him, his is in pretty good nick as it is actually, still has the original purchase reciept too....
anyway he saw how i kept my old xt which was pretty clean & mostly stock then so he knows i'd keep it clean & original, his prob is that he jast finds it hard to let the old girl go... but ill keep trying.. oh & im supposed to be picking up a 1 owner xd soon, 250, 4 speed so that could be good too although i have not seen it yet... |
