The VN was based on the Opel Senator, which was basically a longer Vauxhall Carlton. Note the similarity between the doors, so there is some truth to the HRT paint scheme

The late 80s/early 90s HRT paint job is a bit strange, but pretty cool car other then that.

I wonder if it had front end damage and the statesmen front end was too expensive to be worth doing.

I would doubt it as the VY SS fronts would probably be more expensive. WH Statesmans have the same head lights as VTs from memory.

New Subaru AWD?

Custom exhaust anyone?

Better reception?

Low drag.

Taking it to the big aussie sixes....

VF Commodore gains a little weight.

Spare change?

Wide bodykit anyone?

Where did you sleep last night?

The VZ has really sharp lines, while the model for the Statesman is very rounded. Doesn't quite work, but excellent job on the conversion.

they're hardly comparable, one is a minimal weight design for maximum effect, the other is a maximum fibreglass design for maximum street cred

There's a BA or BF Fairlane getting round with the same kind of thing done.

I had to do a double take when I looked at the side of it as I was walking past, thinking "Nice", then I looked at the front end to see whether it had Fairlane or LTD grille and was blown away and confused - it had a complete XR front end conversion, headlights, bumper, grille, everything!

What a great thread, have not laughed so much in ages. Especially liked the horse drawn ones and the dude who blew his engine thru the bonnet in his driveway. :
