I have steered away from this an other threads on the VE as best I can. But an interesting point was made from a person I spoke with yesterday. He is an avid Holden man, and currently drives a VX. He recently got a VE company car being the "Omega". And says that if he was in the market for a car, he wouldn't spend his money on the VE... He didn't say what his preference would be, just that it wasn't the VE. He said he liked the ride, but little else. I believe this new VE may sway many to test drive a ford or other make. And that can and may well be a good thing. :

Being on the road all day, its amazing how many are already out there. Will be interesting to see the sales figures for the full month of October when they come out.I think Ford will be a little worried.

Figures for Ford are out and Falcon held its market share at 3500 odd cars. So VE figures may not be so great after all.

Theres a fair few Ve's in my area a few SV6/SS/SS-V's but mainly omega, all look to be fleet.

The luxo VE's don't seem to be a popular choice i think i have seen one...

Well didnt he take off like a cut snake...

He wishes he had the beefy sound of a clevo :P

Well, I saw a VE today, Dark blue SSV or some up market spec, had the full kit, had to look twice coz it loked like a Lexus or BA/BF Falcon at first glance, not so appealing it is, especially if some could get confused with it being another make of car. :

Still prefer the XR6T over a VE anyday, has more potential....and not so angular in shape

Its funny how some here hardly see any.

I'm in NZ, and drive to uni and back (not far) and the odd trip, and today alone I saw 3 VEs and 2 yesterday, 2 the day before that. Uni to home is 5 minutes, and no Holden dealerships nearby..

well to be quiet honest i have seen only about 5 different ones in my area.
i actually see more 380's than the VE and that is saying something.
(infact i have seen more GT/Ps in Warrnambool than VE's).

Its called the "Commodore V" not "Omega V"

Anywho Holden announced this special edition at the launch of the VE as a special "launch edition" car.

Old news.

Yeah? A small part that has failed means the model is a dud? Come on.

If it was a Ford, you would be arguing that it is just a small part and these things happen.

Our Territory (along with many others) is experiencing problems that were also evident in the previous model. Ford can't get it right after 2 and a half years! Now THAT's a real worry!

I never said Ford was any better (their not, maybe even worse in recent years), simply that the rhetoric about the VE having improved quality is BS. Its not just one part, multiple posters in the same thread also are stating quality issues.

I drove a VE Omega today. Very smooth and great handling. Plus the old 4 speed auto is much smoother and more responsive then the version used on the VZ models. The suspension is too soft for my liking and the engine I would only rate as adequate as the base Barra engine is better.

Would I buy one? No chance.

[QUOTE=colossus]And so the problems begin, so much for having dramatically improved quality:

My next door neighbour has a new fleet VE. Last weekend i was out washing the car when he packed all the kids and wife into the car for a day out. I happened to turn to get his attention when i noticed the expression on his face as it wouldn't start. As he was walking back inside to call for help, i couldn't help but ask how the new VE's went, The response 'NOT AT ALL, bloody things'
Half an hour L8r, NRMA turns up, this guy got out of his car and ****ed himself laughing, 'M8 don't know what i can do about it' he says.

In the end, it was a spur on the inside of his ignition lock, they just rammed the key in there really hard a few times (erotically) untill it dislodged.

I still **** myself laughing, if only i'd taken a picture of his face.....hehehe :voldar02:
