we can only hope - but it does come from the Ford Philippines face book page:
http://nseavoice.com/cars/2019-ford-...920031899.html https://www.facebook.com/FordPhilippines/ The mill will be a turbo-diesel 6-pot engine that can develop about 345hp and 450ft-lbs of torque. This is pretty insane for a midsized pickup truck and it will show to the world that diesels can do well on a range-topping utility vehicle. |

I'm sure I heard the 7th as well. A guy from Car Advice on Steve Price's Car Advice show Monday night said the reveal was on Wednesday so they will probably have info on their website by Thursday.
Now that's more like the engine I would expect from something called a 'Raptor' with a 80k price tag |

Looks great, diesel will give it more longer term sales. A petrol may have been cool, but sales would of peaked then dropped off once the enthusiasts got theirs.
Wish they went in a different direction with the grill, it looks really good, but it’s so thrashed due to thousands of aftermarket copies from Thailand/China on local Rangers. |

Another US article
https://www.motorauthority.com/news/...diesel#image=5 Power and torque is a lot less than I was expecting. As I thought it would be a tuned version of the 2.0 that XLT and Wildtrak will eventually get. Maybe the power and torque will be the same across the range including Raptor?? Figures, although great for a 2L, seem only adequate for the performance truck it is trying to be. Wouldn't expect it to have great engine longevity either. For this reason alone I am strongly of the opinion they have put the wrong engine in there. In a lower state of tune it may last for a while, but not when wringing that much power out of such small capacity. Aftermarket tuning would probably also send it into meltdown. Disappointed that Ford went down this path.

Looks amazing from the front and side. Back end looks a little plain though. But an extra 10kws and 30nm? Hold on to your hats! Wonder if it will be able to do 0-100kmh in under the 10 second mark yet.
Wonder what long term reliability will be like squeezing lots of power from a small engine. We welcome the Ranger Peacock to the Ford family. |

Reminds me of the days when they dropped the v8 engine and said that everybody will love the efi 4.1 six pack. Wrong. I’m sure the 2,0 litre is a good engine buts it’s already beaten by the amarock that will be a lot cheaper than the raptor. Ford have the v6 diesel. That should be the top of the range engine. Full stop

Not sure if we have the full story yet, as embargo lifts in 20mins. There may be two states of tune of the 2.0 and perhaps the Thai release is describing the lower one.

Not hard. 3.2 is old and never was anything special.

80k for a 2L Ranger, seems funny the most expensive model has the smallest engine
Wonder what the long term engine durability will be like |

Cosmetically it’s a winner, looks tough and the interior looks like a special place to be in.
The engine for me, on paper at least, is a let down. The F150 gets its own engine which is more powerful than the V8 it replaced, why doesn’t Ranger get its very own? I don’t know how I’d feel about throwing around 80grand on one of these. I’m sure there’s plenty that will, but for me, I’m not yet convinced. |
