My review. I'm better at forza3 so my brain reacts and says it better but I can see how the physics of gt5 are superior I'll tuff it out I'm sure it will get better as I do. Besides I love me some trial mountain. Now where's that G27...
Also be sure to try a few cars before making a judgement call, I was about ready to snap the disc before I took the 1967 GT40 for a blast around le-mauns.

Nice. I was going to open one up, but thought I would leave it till there was enough interest or someone else beats me to it. |

Apart from the "photo-mode" graphics and handling physics, I've found it a tad disappointing - maybe it was overhyped in the lead up to its release. |

Polyphony have really stuffed this game up, yes it has good physics and graphics (on some cars), but engine sounds are terrible, you can't custom every car, the noise made when crashing into things is like someone kicking a box and they boast about 1000+ cars, but I have not even seen the AU supercar, infact I am lucky if 250 cars are currently available. There is no doubt Forza 3 is miles ahead and to think they spent 6 years developing this. I will keep playing it because I payed for it, and I enjoy taking photo's, but after this I will only buy the Forza titles, christ Forza 4 could just be 3 with new cars for all I care, it is still better in terms of a complete package than GT5.

I'm thinking that not everything is available straight up.
eg. the Nurburgring Nordschleife isn't in the practise area but the GP track is. There is supposed to be three versions of the Nurburgring - GP track, Nordschleife and (I can't remember the name) a longer version that joins both of them together. If you look at the trophy's (the XMB trophies outside the game) one of them is to use an R35 GTR on the Nordschleife to beat the 7:29ish record that was set on it in real life. There is a heap of cars missing at the moment, even in just the Ford showroom. I don't see a Holden showroom or the Commodore and Monaro yet, unless they'll only be available at some point in the used cars section. Also, in Polyphony Digital's showroom, where is this ultimate race car, the Red Bull X1 that Adrian Newey and Kazunori Yamauchi made? I think all this will become available as you progress. I haven't had much play time yet, halfway through getting all gold's in the International C licence, and only raced in the beginner section so far.

My other complaint is that my tool of a friend can't quite grasp the concept of clean racing when we play online.
Ended up just quitting online play. He was in a 09 GTR and I had my 32 (tuned to 647hp)...on circuit de la sarthe, that sweeping bend after the big straight, took him on the outside, no contact...Next small bend that can be taken at full noise I clearly had the racing line into the corner, eased off a tad and he pushes up the inside...pushes me to the outside....5 or so spins later. Had some good races with my other friend though in his R33 GTR. Other than that....still having loads of fun...favourite car at the moment is still my 512BB Ferrari. But mind you, had a drive of the scuderia...awesome! How good is the AMG special events!

How the hell are you supposed to get pics with the steering wheel.
Doesn't bloody work.

I thought it was hitting one of those barrels full of water with a pole. I thought it was going to model damage but sadly, it doesn't. It'd be nice if there was an actual *simulator* mode where you get penalised for not being clean and using the AI as speed brakes. |

Does the game update automatically or is that something you need to manually do?

Got a C63 and went Crazy on it last night.. sounded Porn when i got it..
Sounds like Poo Now although 1-2-3-4 is just wheelspin on demand with Full N/A Tuning and a Stage 3 Turbo, sort of wish i didn't waste the money now though :P Ive got a Mach 1 and a SRT 8 Challenger (Sounds..Goood!) My toy at the moment is a Focus ST (XR5T) with a few mods, having some FWD fun and *** you add the power torque steer was a massive issue thank F^&% for the LSD upgrade and some Slicks. |

I haven't seen the Commodore or the AU race car but I have seen a Monaro in the used bit. It's random though, not like GT4 where it rotated every 700 days. |

Try turning the abs and tc off, its intense I'm a firm believer in turning the aids off for cars that don't actually have them (or times when you would turn them off) but I had to have them on to get a podium on the Elise/top gear track test. Anyone who can get third or better (you only need 5th to pass though) without the abs and tc or bouncing off other cars is pretty good. |

I spent 180k upgrading the 08 SRT, entered it in the supercar championship, I was beating Ford GT race cars, until the straight, it just didn't have the legs past 320kph, where as the GT obviously did and even though I had a 4 second buffer they still caught up. Now I have no cash :(

Does the MK1 Sound good with the side pipes?
What Spec Exhaust upgrade is that on the list? Is it just me or can you not do brake upgrades on anything? |

the car list for gt5, there is an Au xr8 listed just the stocker by the look of it, i had a bit of a go of my brothers machine, i found it a little hard without car setup, he is also useing a non gt5 steering wheel that is not supposed to work, but he managed to get it going though the paddles don`t work, you need a bit of patience to learn the game set up i think.
i watched him set up the car and his lap time came down by 7 seconds or there abouts and i like the way you can modify the cars and actually see improvement. http://www.gtplanet.net/gran-turismo...cial-car-list/ |

I must say my Dodge Challenger SRT 08 is insane. O.k I spent 180k upgrading it, but I am doing the world supercar championship now and beating proper corvette, dodge, nissan race cars etc by 4-5 seconds easy. I realised after being caught up to by the ford race car I still had not upgraded the LSD and since then I have not been caught on a straight, not sure what difference it made, I put initial torque up by 20 points and the accel and decel up by 10ea. Top Speed so far before having to brake is 335km/h.

I just stumbled upon the '65 Shelby GT350R in the used cars bit. I must have missed it in the list. With a few minor mods it was by far my favourite car in GT4, its not one of the premium cars but I don't care Also, i'm positive one of the standard cars I was driving the other day only had bumper view, roof view and behind the car view. The 350 (and probably others) have a bonnet view as well. |
