At the time we only had the pre-update model Colorados at work and I will admit I hated them but when the updated ones came through they were like a different car truck or whatever you want to call them.
Yep was the earlier model ....it was so bad you had to retrain yourself how to drive (manual)

Looks like it. But i'm sure there will be more special edition stuff later down the line. This is just the starter line up.

Interestingly the Thailand plants have been given a huge overhaul, and one of the plants will have a second shift added. So there should be more build capacity coming on stream. So hopefully this helps keep up with demand.

I dont doubt they will do the special edition thing at some stage, similar to the PX4 Max/Wildtrack X thing they did recently.

Interesting news about the extra shift for more capacity... Can only be a good thing for our supplies. If I where Toyota right now, I'd be more than a little worried about Ranger.... Not to mention new Everest...

Well, put it this way compared to some here, its not something I get all excited about being a dual cab overall but that it has a V6 is its best feature for me.
As for looks in the flesh compared to pics, nothing to right home about for its not replacing a ugly duckling per say.
The current model outside wise looks great to me and tuffer I think whereas for now we have to get used to seeing this FSeries kind of look that makes sense done by Ford, I expect the Raptor will get my eye far more.......
The dash etc looks ok but can't tell till I or any of us get inside the cockpit.
I like the back step addition having been a 4x4Dual Cab owner in the past.
Would have been nice seeing it in a diff colour but no big deal.

Anyone know why the plastic trim in the wheel arches on all models?
The step in the tub seems handy but there's so much plastic now, I'm just not sure. That plastic doesn't hold up real well long term and when it starts to fade it really ages the car. I would have preferred a model without it.

Mercedes & BMW have had this sort of plastic trim for a while now on their SUVs
Painted on most models though.

For the Ranger I would say this allows a flared guard to be fitted looking more factory than an add on.

Did you see it in that yellowy orange colour? Would you say it's more yellow or more orange/gold in person?

The colour to me looked like the current Saber colour that’s mostly on the Wildtraks unless I’m colour blind.

Your right in assumption re plastics.
Some OE’s use a good quality one that holds its texture farfar more than others.
We’ve seen our local Falcons have some very ordinary plastic bumpers in the past.
We will only see how this new models plastics hold up in time I suppose.

but I don’t think that’s the case with the 2.0 manual in Transit but that’s a single scroll…….
Point is that the Twin Scroll approximates a small and big turbo in one, meaning virtually no lag down low like Triton POS that neatly killed me crossing a busy intersection, I hit the throttle and the thing took what felt like two seconds to get going…..,
I drive a 2WD MQ Triton 2.4L 5 speed auto and have put 110k on it. It is a massive step up from the MN 2.5L 4 speed auto that I put 160k on. Standing start is chalk and cheese. I occasionally tow with a box trailer with around 300-400kg in it and I couldn’t contemplate towing 2+ tonne. I do that with our 4.0L petrol Prado. Will seriously consider the V6 Ranger with 600Nm.

What you’re describing is more like flare and thump, this is the opposite, the engine is bogging down because it’s below the turbo tip in (under 1500 rpm) and can’t get is A55 off the floor.

If anyone's curious to see the size difference between Thailand Specials and the American utes

Took this photo about half an hour ago at Melbourne Airport, it's not often you get to see them side by side.

Has the new Ranger grown in size or is it the same as the current model?

Or is it just transmission protection strategies like what the diesel Territory does

Same as my diesel Focus, if it doesn't want to let you have throttle the pedal just does nothing and people perceive it as 'turbo lag' so you press it in further and it does nothing so you press it in further again then it suddenly goes **** driver wants throttle rev off my tits

Seems to catch out Territory owners at roundabouts with how the throttle is mapped.

VF Commodore is hyper lazy too, it's why some people hate drive by wire cars because they perceive this how they all drive when in reality it's programmed that way on purpose for various reasons.

100%

Can be gearbox calibration as well, but rarely is it turbo lag.

Territories don't like going quickly from brake to throttle. Its another 'protection' in the software I believe.

Funniest part is how long the Ram drove around looking for a spot where it could get in, and get out if someone parked too close.

I'm not sure the last time you went to Melbourne Airport but the car park is probably at 10% capacity

The whole 'you can't park them anywhere' is bull****, there's one in the car park in Melbourne Airport, with its silly tight ramps to go up land down levels of the car park.

New Ranger has 50 mm wider track and the body is less rounded, so it will look bigger, more filled out.

Along with electric throttle delay .....add it all up , by the time they realise the lights have changed and put the phone down , then the throttle delay , then the torque convertor , then the turbo spools up

Is it any wonder that only three cars get through before the F##KING lights change again ....perfect storm would be if they all had stop/start

Are you still talking about Triton? I haven't driven one, but If a diesel ute needs 1500 RPM to spool the turbo it must be a POS to drive.

It's got RAM DT headlights but that a rebel grill, not a DT laramie grill , so not an ASV Ram.
Maybe a RAM DT Rebel import. If its a rebel, then it's got a small factory lift as well.

Its decieving I suppose, having seen the mule in the flesh to me doesn't look any bigger at all barring the squarer look....be a keen eye spotting 50mm wider track

I could be wrong. But I don’t think so as the TRX has a large open scoop on the bonnet. Bit hard to see as the photo is a bit small and not that clear. Ether way it is considerably bigger than the current ranger

New gen is 50mm longer, and it’s also taller. Not sure about total width, but track is 50mm wider.

So two sizes up on Ranger or an F-250 competitor. Probably makes sense as I once caught the previous model F-150 stopped beside a Ranger at the lights and my first thought was how good the F-150 looked (Limited model) and was then surprised that the F-150 wasn't dwarfing the Ranger in comparison...don't get me wrong it was definitely larger, just not as much as I would have expected.

Most of the full sized pickups are roughly 2 metres wide where as PX3 Ranger is about 175mm narrower.
That extra width in the full sized pickups results in an extra 125mm of shoulder and hip room.
