Grand Ridge do a fantastic wheat beer too.

Try them and then see what you think of wheat beer. They have a lot more to offer than Beez Neez and Redback.

Just tried a one off of this barons black wattle original ale. One word. Outstanding. Best 'dark ale' type beer i've ever had. To get that deep caramel/chocolate malt to finish off so smoothly without excessive aftertaste is amazing IMO. I atribute the lingering taste to the black wattle since ive never tasted it before in a beer.

Much like Cooper Extra Strong Vintal Ale but is a bit better on the finish. THinking about going back for more....

Its a small brewery in Margaret River in the SW of WA.

Give it a try if you can, delicious! Loving their Pale Ale

Only a couple of pubs sell it The Royal and Malt Kitchen, but for those in Victoria, The Lucky Coq and Botanical have it on tap.

Erdinger is superior, but not by a lot.
Both are 500ml bottles.

Hoegaarden is like 4 bucks for a 330. Used to be 3.

Also had to add that Grand Ridge is an Australian brewery in Gippsland. About 3.10 a bottle. It is my staple beer in summer. Great citrus finish, but not in that bloody 'fusion' way.

To be honest, no idea. I mostly go to my local Dan Murphy's.
I have never been to First Choice before. Just keep the eyes peeled.

I just opened an Epic Armageddon I.P.A.
From what I've been told, it's a relatively low-production limited edition beer (Epic produced several), and I decided to go for the Indian Pale Ale.

Of all the beers I have ever had, this is the hoppiest. Apparently contains 42 different hops. Very, VERY floral on the nose. Slight tones of pine...don't ask me how.

6.8% alcohol...but very drinkable. Bitter aftertaste, with an ultra-fast hit of sweetness when it first hits the palate.

If you see Epic's beers, keep in mind they cost 13-16 bucks a bottle. The bottles are 500ml. If you want a beer-drinking experience, it really is worth it.

I am certainly not disappointed in it. I was told it was damn hoppy, but I wasn't prepared for reality.

I got my bottle in Olinda...might have been called Olinda Cellars...looks familiar.

Due to it being limited, I am not sure if they are still around. I bought it just after Christmas so it has been a little while.

Boags pure is another effort for a brewery to produce a 'green' beer that doesn't emit any ******** into the air or harm any fairies in the processing of it...

Save yourself money. Wash the dishes by hand then drink the water in the sink.

I've had Cascade's offering and I really don't know what it was in the bottle.

My view is that you should not drink beer if you are concerned about your weight or image or any of that social garbage.

Beer is about appreciating flavour, and the broad, broad range of choice that is out there.
In the grand scheme of things, Corona is nothing but corn water, low-carb beers are a disgrace, and Carlsberg is probably far from the best beer in the world.

IMO, stay away and stick to Belgian. With the cold weather coming up, it's time to get the selection ready!

I picked up Beez Kneez from First Choice just before, its in the freezer cooling down

Also got a local beer called "Holgate", they make heaps of stuff like ale, pilsner and white beer, I picked up the white beer. They make it 20 minutes from home

I agree uranium death. I hate seeing kids buying tooheys extra dry because it "goes down easy". Beer should be savoured and enjoyed. That being said if drunkness is the by product, well, who am I to complain?

The Holgate one is good, tastes similar to Hoegaarden, but the Beez Kneez is shithouse, its got barely any taste to me. The only time I can taste something is if I swish it around in my mouth heaps.

Holgate is okay...doesn't compare to the Euro offerings and IMO, Grand Ridge either.

Beez Neez is okay if you have friends over because while not complete crap IMO, it isn't so good that I would waste it on people who don't appreciate good ale.

I have no problem if people drink Toohey's Extra Dry because they enjoy something lighter after work, but to drink a heap of them just to get wasted is sort of pointless.

Buy cheap wine if you want to get wasted. Far more economical, and higher alcohol content. (Wow...that's a socially irresponsible statement!).

With winter coming up, it's La Trappe ahoy for me. I am also going to see what new offerings I can find too...always on the lookout.

But yep Iggy, beer should be savoured and enjoyed down to the last drop. A little bit of a buzz is nice and a healthy by-product of healthily enjoying a beer after work or with a main meal.

I don't expect much really.

On the side, bought another 6 of my Grand Ridgies, and also a 6 of Cooper's Pale, which I haven't had for fecking ages!

I normally get Little Creatures...but thought I might go for a change so I'll appreciate the LC that little bit more next time...

Oh, and on the side, Hoegaarden is up to 4.70 per bottle now = RIPOFF!

keep it in the bottle and admire it. if it is anything like Charger lager, it will be disgusting. not sure if we just had a bad batch, but one of teh nastiest beers ever. i think it is made with drippings from an old Valiant

I assume you are a Ale and whit beer drinker than uranium? I would agree but i do like the occasional lager (i'm from FNqld originally and ona hot day they go down well) but ales are my preference.

I snaked a Coopers PA the other day from my uncle's fridge and it made for a nice change. Been ages since i had one. Not in the LC class frankly but not bad for widely available stuff.

I am enjoying a nice JS Amber Ale at present. Anyone drink this regularly? Its my first time with the amber (love the golden ale best of JS, but their pilsener and sundown lager are great) and i quite like it. Not as sessionalbe though...quite a bit more malty than the golden. They say its a brown ale?? Not as chocalate as some heavy ales but i like.

In summer when I want something with a lighter flavour, wheat beers are great. Lagers are just too mundane for me now...I will drink them at a mate's place, but if I am spending my money, I prefer to go for something with a little more pizzazz.

JS Amber Ale is okay, but I reckon Cascade Amber Ale was absolutely the best. Had a fantastic kick at the end. It wasn't sharp, but damn it was good. Squire lacks the same kick...though it is still nice.
Unfortunately, Cascade yielded to the metrosexuals and scrapped Amber Ale and instead went for their 'Green' beer and their 'Blonde' (low carb) garbage. Sad.

LC is the benchmark for me when it comes to Pale Ales. I love Grand Ridge generally, but it's Pale Ale is inferior to LC.

Fat Yak is also good...hoppy flavour.

Golden Ale is too grainy for me. I don't enjoy it as much as the IPA.

Yes lager is a bit mundane. I don't buy it much to drink at home mostly will get it out at a pub when i don't want a heavier style (lagers are also lower in alcohol which helps when driving). JS sundown lager is a nice smooth drink and is pretty much the only lager i atcually buy to drink in quantity (blue tongue lager is ok too i suppose)

The amber ale does lack the finish of the better heavy ales. Its quite smooth and malty but not much of a hop finish.

As for IPAs well that is a very rare style these days. Its way too hoppy for the unitiated (in fact you know you have a good ipa on your hands when the 'lesser' beer drinks turn up their noses LOL) but is great if you can find a good one. Do you know of any good readilly available IPAs?. I havent' tried any in a bottle TBH. I went to the Mt Tamborine brewery recently and most of their beers (high in ac% too) were unimpressive. BUT, their 'yippy IPA' was well worth it. Sharp as a tack....great hop finish.

Golden ale is very 'drinkable',, but i mean that in a nice way. Its smooth and i think it has quite good flavour, while admittedly not very complex. On tap i can drink ALOT of golden ale....which isnt' always a good thing..... Anyone tried JS 'porter'?

I've had it on tap at the Brewery. I'm not a dark beer drinker, but it was well suited to the Mud Cake that they matched it with. I'd much rather stick with the Pilsner, however their new limited edition Malt Runner, which sounds quite tempting.

Yep...bit of a heavier flavour, but I like it. Good in winter, though I still stick with Belgian.

The most prevalent IPAs I see are JS and Singha.
I recommended Epic, but they are near impossible to find, and they may have been limited edition only.
