Is is physically possible to put high performance brakes or modify brembos to be able to fit under the 17 inch factory steel wheel on a Ford Territory ? Doing a sleeper project and keeping the 17 inch steelies is a must

Almost anything can be possible but it means redesigning and possibly using a lower profile caliper and a large internal dia 17" rim.

I believe that they did a floating rotor variation. I wasn't happy with the likelihood of inherent noise associated with that design. I ended up using a 360 mm rotor and hat from an Alcon kit. I heard to modify the caliper bracket to suit the reduced offset of the rotor.

Way back when i had just bought my GTP i posted that the BBS 18s fitted over the Brembos at that stage i hadnt had the rims off car but when i did it revealed 5m spacers had been fitted,i mentioned at the time how little gap there was, they wont fit without the spacers, sorry meant to post this up ages ago but simply forgot.

20181211_115655 Niche Essen wheels - 20 x 9 +35, 20 x 10 +40 Rears clear the Brembo 4 pots - but because of the concave - only by 3-4mm's.

Same sizes as yours mate - 245/35/20 and 275/30/20's. Tyres were Kumho PS71's. Got them for a good price - but am not liking them at all.
They're a skinnier tire than the Pirelli Dragon Sports and don't hold their lateral grip anywhere as good. Even with your current tread on the Pirelli's they are better than my Kumho's brand new. Will try to go back to the Pirelli's next time and get 285's on rears.

Thanks.
I've had Kumhos on the T3, good priced tyre but agree not as good as I'd wish grip wise. Now have Conti 275's much better. Mentioning the Dragons on the tsw's even with the tread at its last legs I'm surprised by the grip I can feel. I'll be amazed once I put on new treads and I'm leaning towards the Michys everyone raves about and consider 285's as well.

Anyone know what offset in front runners clear 6 pot brembos?
And also, I was reading somewhere that the Mustang GT500 is similar to Falcon in brake sizes - can someone please confirm? |

6 pot Brembos are serious brakes. To be of any use they need serious tyres or they are pointless. Front runners do not support serious tyres, they are a joke. If you're running front runners, use a parachute to slow down .

I've read through this thread and I'm a bit lost. Do the 17" BA XR6 Wheels fit over the Brembo Front Brakes. I've got the 18" BA XR8 Wheels, but I prefer the XR6 Wheels. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How did you go with the Vari brakes, are they are worthwhile upgrade on our cars? I see they are advertising them as being able to fit stock wheeels on the FG

We didn't pursue the Vari brakes as the majority of people wanted Brembo to keep the factory look and easier for adr compliance etc.

Has anyone managed to Fit Brembos to the Factory Ghia Turbo (2009) Rims?
They are 18", in the standard Terri 7.5" width and 36.5mm offset. I may end up spacing the rims to fit bigger tyres, but that's another story. |
