A FATHER and son have had their cars seized by police after they were allegedly caught drag racing each other on South Rd.

An unmarked police car was sitting behind the pair as they waited for the lights to change at the intersection of Sturt and South roads, Clovelly Park at 4.45pm.

The 56-year-old Everard Park man, driving a Ford XR8 turbo, allegedly took off north on South Rd alongside his son, 27 of Salisbury Park, who was in a Mazda Astina turbo, as the lights turned green.

Police will allege the men reached speeds of about 105km/h when they were pulled over by the officer.

They were charged with misuse of a motor vehicle and both cars have been impounded for 28 days.

My dad had a 1979 trans am and I had a 1963 Chev bel air. Back in the early 1990s we used to cruise the drag scene in the parramatta area. We used to race each other ALL the time!!! He had a 2.42 diff ratio, so I used to kick his butt all the time. My Chev would pick the LHF wheel off the ground. But he got me once in a " roll on" race, from 60ks and he kicked my butt. Geez I miss those days. Davies road, the shell refinery, homebush and oh so many more. I remember when we made parramatta road look like peak hour, at midnight. Foreshore drive at botany was a good one, they had a set of light there that was exactly a quarter mile. He saved my butt there once by not stopping for the cops, I was about 3 cars in front of him with bald tyres and the cop was pulling cars over and then going to the next car, pulling it over, my old man wouldn't stop until the cop stopped with him, saving me a yellow sticker cause the cop didn't make it up to me. Oh the good old days. I miss them, meeting at bondi, Charlies diner.

I actually like the side profile of that Volvo ute. Although I think the one in the trailer might look better. It would be good to see it.

Is that a Nissan? I thought its a Toyota Chaser. Those cars have Supra engines. Maybe the fail is how ugly it looks

Hmm maybe the fail is the P plate driver in front of the truck (and all the other cars) sticking with the right lane/left lane when they could have got ahead by taking the middle lane... meaning Aussie driver's are like sheep.

Nah its a different guy, the guy that built the VK ute is the same who built the VX SS ALTERD unveiled at the last Nats, Scott Hutchesson.

JZX100 Chaser. The fail is: Cannon, lights. That is a factory TRD wing. Also, they run a 2.5L single turbo 1JZ, not the 3L Twin Turbo 2JZ of the Supra.

I give the guy kudos for wanting to make his Tarago/Odyssey look better.

How else would you modify a Tarago/Odyssey?
