Any early feedback from the dealers out there? Has there been a rush of orders, cancelled orders, tumbleweeds?

From what I've been reading, nothing is confirmed.
One interesting request I heard was the the 4 cyl mustang ecoboost motor.

Has been confirmed today 2.0L bi turbo diesel, 157Kw/500Nm, 10 speed auto.
Don't know how people comment on anything without seeing or driving it in person, especially on engine/driving performance. It may whip all its competitors or fall way behind... Lets see once they arrive what people who actually drive one have to say about it as the comments here really have no basis at this stage. |

But this is a performance car with a price tag to match. Performance cars MUST have soul. I'm not convinced a high tech diesel can bring that. Totally agree though, I haven't driven it.

RRP on a 4x4 Wildtrak 3.2 Auto is $67,000, I expect Raptor will be well North of $70,000 maybe $80,000. In that instance it's hard to see it being a big seller but mind you, 2,000 sales a year would be good fishing IMO. Personally, I like this brave bold initiative by Ford, but I'm not the one Ford has to convince, it's all those people with 80 grand to spend on a truck.... As for being too high to tow - no it won’t be. It will be a bloody awesome truck. That diesel hooked up to a ten speed with that sort of off-road capability will be more than what 99% of people can handle at its limit. I’ve spent half my working life in the Pilbara and have done huge dirt road km over the last 14yrs. We lived in NW WA for nearly 6 yrs and we were always driving somewhere on my days off. We’ve done the full lap including the CSR other fourby adventures - the CSR was done in a modified shorty 40 V8. My other shorty ran 39’’ swampers and we took that deep into the Pilbara plenty of times also. I love my off-roading and have been looking forward to this truck. It may still be a goer for me, I’ve just got to look at the towing and what I wanna do with it overall. That truck will scare the bejesus out of the driver before the driver scares it. As for driving ‘really’ fast ,no doubt it can soak up some pretty serious terrain at rediculously speeds. I refer to Baja mode as ‘hero’ mode........whether the driver is hero enough to handle what this truck can do will be another story. Over the years I’ve personally attended 6 roll overs from people who think they can drive fast off-road....one ****head rolled a Hilux with a newborn in the back, no water, no food, no warm clothes, no comms - no brains. There will be places to open this thing up but one will have to have the balls and the experience to know the limits. It still could be a goer - I think it’s an awesome truck. I understand it can’t do everything, but what it can do will blow most people away I’m thinking. |

This car looked pretty good even in their testing camo livery. I've seen it many times while driving.
Can't wait for some reviews even though it's not a vehicle for me. |

Engine size aside, auto only would be enough to turn me off if i was looking for something like this.....

Sure it will be quicker then all the other 4 and 5 cylinder diesel utes, but you would expect something pretty good rather than just slightly better when you buy the most expensive car in it's class. At the expected price you will pay $2000 per extra kilowatt over the Wildtrack. Or you can buy a used F-150 Raptor for $200 per extra kilowatt, plus the F150 has all the other stuff the Ranger Raptor has anyway. Mazda's BT50 ad "147kw BT50, because more is more" VW ad talking about overboost and having the most powerful engine in the class. Then Ford comes out with, "Look at these sick *** flares, it will go mad with your unit sticker" |

Your not supposed to be doing 170kph on a sealed road. I'd like to know where and who's going to be doing that off road?
Pointless vehicle.

Whilst I'm quite disappointed that the biggest and baddest Ranger is powered by 2 litre 4 pot diesel, I'm not exactly surprised either.
I can understand that economics behind the decision but surely Ford would have expected a backlash over such an undernourished engine?

Has that been confirmed?
If it has, this would be yet another "not engineered for right hand drive" excuse I would assume.

The 2.3L Ecoboost Mustang is acceptable in most scenarios you come across on the road. I have driven one for 4 hours. It's not bad. It's better then most other 2 door coupes you can buy in Australia for a reasonable price. Yet 80% of Mustang owners pick a V8.
Why though? the 4 is good enough for what it is and has OK economy. Last edited by Ben73; 08-02-2018 at 07:38 PM. |

Maybe they should also make a Slammed 2x4 Version for the road only.

This forum site doesn't represent the public as we are biased by our brand enthusiasm. So who are their target market? Who are the building it for? As the vibe in this thread is certainly not for us as enthusiasts.

It was a huge success, and with the recently updated F-150 Raptor (released last year) they have created a unique power plant for it.
