How many flaws are there in our local comps meaning rugby/nrl/afl....no different, I hear the stuff said on radio about hopeless reffing etc etc.
I wont stop watching either, I have watched most games through the cup, but a lot of people who quickly jumped on the wagon to watch soccer, are jumping off just as fast because of this and have spoken about it.

Not to say the players arent brilliant, their skills are fantastic!

Pretty sad really. Ive always admired ZZ, and this morning was a bit of a downer. There is no way he would of done that without a huge provoking. Being called a terrorist due to his background, that required more than a headbutt.

To the dives, its just part of the game. You cant say the socceroos didnt take dives also, but the truth is we are not the best at taking dives.

Anyways, good WC in the end, however i would of been happier if someone like England or France won it for a change... oh well.

I need foxtel too, well maybe just the sport channel. But they always play the finals on normal TV so that is cool!
Cheers to SBS and for doing an awesome job at covering the World Cup!!

Toughness, exactly. a HARD faught, rough local club game is instantly 10x better than some "dont even come within 5feet of me, or I sware I'll dive, ILL DO IT. DONT MAKE ME DO IT YOU TERRORIST" joke world cup game. You get hacked down, and the ref doesn't INSTANTLY blow his whistle, get your sorry behind up and keep playing. Simple.

OFF TOPIC. To combat these 'fake' injuries, mabey the ref's need to be a bit rougher. If you're not on your feet in 10sec, you're obviously too injured to play on. Instant Manditory subsitution (ie not back on).

One of the commentators did mention something about racism.
Zidane has had Red Cards before in big matches including one in France 98. He can get hot headed...Not good enough and a just result in the end.

the strange thing about all the Italian supporters on AFF are they seem proud to have won the cup.. I have a few Italian friends are they are embarassed and ashamed at the antics of the national team.. Different strokes for different folks i guess

True he can get hot headed, and he has been carded off for Juventus, Real and for France, in similar circumstances. But it was because he was provoked.

No one knows what was said to him, so lets not judge ok ?
Nonetheless, France deserved to win, because Italy did what they usually do, sat back and tried to snatch a cheap goal from a counter. Unfortunately they couldn't, and went on the snatch a cheap win from a shootout. Empty win if you ask me.

Agree..Aussies have alot to learn about how World Cups work..I didnt care who won when Italy and Australia played each other but full credit to Italy for getting that close with 1 less Man and therefore having a chance of something going there way. Aussies didnt complain when Materazi got a red card when it should have been yellow. Italys had so many decisions against them in the last 16 years thats potentialy cost them World Cups. Italy has lost a Final on shootouts before and copped it fair and square. Judging by some reactions here I would hate to see how sore some Aussies would be if that happened to them. Full credit to France for copping it on the chin. The next world cup will be Australias 3rd year apprentiship

Yes I know a few Italian people who are not proud of the way Italy played. But as they say its not the whole team there are just a handful of players who continiously go down. Cannavaro (sp), for example, is an excellent player and he doesn't go down much.

Yes different strokes mate.
The media and peer pressure are powerful things.

Are you Aussies proud of Cahill?
he went down and was rough.

Who says hate against Italians?? For your info, I have Italians as friends and in the family. This has nothing to do with race. It was to do with a teams antics, be it Italian, Chinese or whatever. So don't try bringing racism into it.

I wasn't draggin on about the italians, I even pointed out an Italian player who I thought was awesome throughout the whole tournament. I don't see you doing this to any of the Aussies.

Heaps of Great Aussie players. They are obvious as are the Italian ones. You guys just go on and on about 1 50/50 decision so much that you make Aussies look like very sore losers. Italy could go on about Frances penalty in the first 5 mins of the final or how France perhaps should not have been at the final because the beat Portugal with yet another very very soft penalty or how they kicked a goal or 2 throughout the tournement that were actually offside. Or how Brazil got 2 goals offside against Ghana. Its all pointles and at the end the best team won the Cup..A team that beat and in some cases too easily beat Germany,Czech,Ghana,Ukraine. A team that only conceeded an own goal and 1 penalty that shouldnt have been{not 1 field of play goal conceeded}. A team that has not lost a game in nearly 2 years. The best team won and the sooner you guys acknowlege it the better Australians will look and be respected. Sth africans copped it when they had the Cricket World Cup in the bag 2 world cups ago and they virtually handed to Australia by fault..Just cop it and be good sportsman . Simple.

Geez, thats it im ripping up my seat, oi oi oi oi.

No wonder this game causes riots worldwide.

The diving is done by all teams. Fifa needs to do something about it, it really spoils the sport for mine. Why not instigate if a player goes down and dosnt rise straight away, he should be removed from the field for 5 minutes. The coach has the option to replace the player via substitution straight away or wait out the 5 minutes and the injured <cough> player could return. Would stop the diving and roling around when they feel a boot lace hit them.

There is no doubt the sport is the biggest in the world and the only sport with a true world cup.

I know, that's why I asked if anyone knows more, please post. But going from the SBS commentarty it was some kind of racial slur.

Zidane has just been confirmed as the Golden Ball winner for player of the tournament despite the red card.
