Read the comments people, seems like just about everyone including Ford fans and owners think that it’s a joke …
So it's not really the same as what was on show? Just the paint?

Proton have some sort of deal with Mitsubishi going on, the Jumbuck is basically a ute version of an early 90s Lancer and a few of their other models are identical to the Lancer.

Don't you just hate it when your tow truck melts through the main wiring loom when loading up a car with the tray at half tilt.

Most people think that the relationship between Holden and Daewoo first started when Holden stopped importing the excellent Opel-sourced XC Barina, and relaced it with the woeful Daewoo-sourced TK Barina.

However, it stretches back a bit more than this, back to the 1980s! Here are some 1980s Daewoos for you to take a look at:

1. Daewoo Maepsy

2. Daewoo Royale Salon

I nearly cried tonight, in pure laughter. Some bloke thought by putting a "sports exhaust" to a Toyota Camry makes it go faster.
It was all noise and no go.

My wifes 1.6L Toyota Yaris was faster. When he planted it, it was all noise and no guts to it. You could hear it trying, but it just wouldn't move. LOL epic fail.

You should have had some sort of warning on that fail! It's been half an hour since I looked at it and my vision still hasn't fully returned.

holden gemini=daewoo mapsy=opel kadet=chevrolet chevette etc etc

That may be, but the Ford Escort was widely feted as the most successful global platform of the '70s

Those were all based on designs by opel. eg gemini was just a opel kadett. from Holden's point of view, they were all designed and built in australia (from designed and built overseas components).

ford did the same thing, but they didn't have to rename them.

At least Ford was honest about it and clearly identified the Aussie Escort as a CKD vehicle (Complete Knock Down, basically imported as a flat pack for local assembly); and if you saw a 1977 Escort in England, Germany, Australia, South Africa, etc. they all looked the same...........
